It is also brilliant for improving balance which acts as ideal cross-training for other sports - movements within snowsports are especially dependent on well-tuned balance. SUP provides a full gym work out in 50-60mins while gliding through the water without a sound!
Enjoying the ocean comes naturally in summer. But you'll see us out on the water all the time during winter too. Like any form of exercise, regular activity is the key to keeping fit. On most days, a pair of boardies, a long-sleeved top and a pair of booties keeps us pretty toasty out there. Auckland gets some incredible days in winter, and it's magic out on the water with virtually the whole harbour to yourself. We have plenty of wetsuits available if you wish to borrow one (FREE for all in winter). Boardies/quick-dry shorts, thermals, footwear/booties would be the ideal clothing for most days in the cooler months (you might find a full steamer wetsuit a little hot though). A change of clothes for afterwards is a good idea too. Come paddling with us year-round at Mission Bay!
