Hands down the best experience my wife and I had in New Zealand. We had an amazing trip, but this was just MIND BLOWING! We did the overnight stay, it was so cozy and relaxing! The hike is 10/10! It wasn't overly challenging and the sights were what you think of when you hear the word paradise. Kevin was so knowledgeable and funny! He took some excellent photos for us and taught us a ton about penguins as well as the work that they do. The kayaking the next morning was absolutely stunning! We saw penguins, sea lions and dolphins. It was one of the coolest things I've ever gotten to experience. Vila was our tour guide and was SO COOL! She made sure everyone was safe and having a great time. She told us all about the penguins and other local wildlife while showing such amazing sights in the bay. Vila made the entire trip a much more personal experience, we felt like friends rather than just tourists. We can't wait to get out to Pohatu again and visit!
I honestly can’t express how great of a trip this was, but I will try. We did the afternoon kayak adventure with Ben as our guide. The views on the trip alone were stunning for the drive and kayak. We were very fortunate this trip that we got to see baby fur seals, Hector dolphins, and penguins!nBen was a phenomenal guide. He had interesting facts for us throughout the excursion, was quite funny, and kept us all feeling very safe. It is obvious he is passionate about nature, and it really makes seeing things through his eyes quite special.nThis 4 hour trip was already incredible value for the money, but better yet Ben explained that some of the cost goes towards the penguin preservation Pohatu marine reserve!!nI truly recommend doing this trip even if you have a kayak and are local. Cheers
I’d like to thank our two incredibly knowledgeable and passionate guides who made our kayaking trip from Flea Bay truly unforgettable last week. We were fortunate enough to encounter numerous seals, including adorable pups basking on the rocks, but the highlight of the trip was seeing of a pod of Hector's dolphins that lingered nearby for a while, offering us an unforgettable experience. While most of the penguins are out at sea during this time of year, we had the pleasure of getting up close to a couple of charming young penguins on land. I recommend this adventure to anyone seeking a unique and memorable wildlife experience. Sue and Dave
We had an amazing trip. Although we did not see dolphins or penguins, we had the most beautiful conditions. The views were absolutely stunning. Lots of bird life around.nVila was extremely knowledge, kind and helpful throughout the tour.nA definite must see when visiting Akaroa.
The farm stay was closed due to the recent Banks Peninsula flooding, but I was able to go out on the afternoon penguin watching trip and see white-flippered penguins in their boxes as well as rafting out on the bay so glad our guide had a nice scope!, and kayaking the next day to see more fur seals, canadian geese, shags, and a couple penguins sheltering in a crack in the rock on the side of the bay. Ben is a knowledgeable guide, and I wish I could have stayed longer. I'd love to go back!nnIf you are interested in marine wildlife and conservation, this is a must-visit - and you can help fund costs of their mission by sponsoring a penguin or two.
