Amazing day! Not only were the penguins a highlight but the road side stops and informative guides we had made out day! Spectacular views. Winding roads along the peninsula with breathtaking views. We saw the penguins during nesting season and were fortunate enough to see the babies! Guides and staff were incredible! Highly recommend!
I loved doing this tour. Our guides Joey and Geraldine were amazing, they are really passionante, it's really interesting to learn not only about pinguins, but also about the place, the history, the fauna and so much more.nAnd yes, we saw penguins and their chicks !!! We saw them close in the nesting boxes, but also in the bay waiting to come back on shore. We also saw some fur seals and some Cormorants drying on the side.nThe money of this tour is for helping the preservation of the land and the growth of the blue penguins populations. It would be really sad if they ended up being extinct and I think it's totally worth it.
Went for the evening tour and our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable. Got the whole farm experience from feeding and petting sheep, to going on a hike to watch penguins arrive at the shores from the ocean in the evening.nnHighly recommended, great to support the sanctuary and all its efforts.
The dedication to conservation is the biggest highlight of this tour. It’s amazing to see the wealth of knowledge that the people have here. We had Duncan and it was evident how much he cares. Seeing the penguins in their nest was a real privilege then to watch come on the shore as the sunset was exceptional. Amazing what Pohatu Penguins achieve with the resources they have highly recommend this tour to everyone of all ages.
We had an incredible experience on the sea kayaking tour! Kevin was very accommodating and flexible, allowing us to postpone the trip to a different date due to weather conditionsa couple of times, which ensured we had the best possible experience.nnOur guide, Ben, was fantastic. He started with a basic kayaking practice session and was incredibly patient with us. Along the way to Flea Bay, Ben stopped at various points to explain the environmental significance of each spot, which added so much depth to the tour.nnThe scenery was absolutely breathtaking, with stunning views of the coastline. We were thrilled to spot seals and even penguins in nesting boxes, which made the experience truly unforgettable. This tour is certainly worth the price and worth trying again. Highly recommended!
