About

Owhiro Bay Kindergarten is an Early Childhood Education (ECE) provider for children from infant through to school age.

Story

The kindergarten was set up in 2009 in response to families in the community recognising the need for a quality ECE service in Owhiro Bay. Wellington Kindergartens (who worked with parents to establish the kindergarten) approached Owhiro Bay School to collaborate on a service which complemented the school service. This influenced the design and situation of the kindergarten, so that a close relationship could be nurtured between the two facilities. The school and the Association were committed to providing high quality learning experiences for infants, toddlers, and children.
The aim was to create a community of learners from birth onwards, making the kindergarten and school the hub of the community, focused on celebrating children.
We are a full day kindergarten, offering full and part day options for families - depending on availability. We have a teaching team of 17.
