There is an active Parent Support group that encourages parental involvement in school. There are many ways to be involved.
Ever wondered what the Otonga School Support Group (PTA) actually does?
The OSSG was set up to support the school with fundraising. Our aim is to raise money to help the school to provide extra resources for our children.
We generally do this by hosting events throughout the year. Some of the events we run are:
Summer Gala
School Discos
Sausage Sizzles
Artwork Calendars
Selling Chocolate
Some of the items we have funded recently are:
Sunscreen in every classroom
New readers for Year 1 classes
Wet weather games and resources for every classroom
Identification signs for native trees
Skipping Ropes
Jump Jam DVDs
Memento Pen for every Senior leaving the school
In order to continue our fundraising efforts, we rely on volunteers. We would also like to extend an open invitation to all Otonga parents and caregivers to get in touch, find out more, maybe join us at a meeting or see how you could help out with the Summer Gala.
We meet at 7pm in the staffroom (beside the office) on the first Monday of the month, meetings usually go for about an hour and are very informal. Our meetings are a great way to meet people if you are new to the area or just want to keep up to date with what is happening throughout the school. If you can't make the meetings, there are plenty of other ways to get involved. If you would like to find out more please get in touch.
