Beautiful Park. Lovely sounds of native birds and trickling water. Great spot for a picnic. Don't forget your cardigan. It gets chilly under the tree cover.
Such a beautiful experience, awesome walking tracks, NZ native bush. Keep up the good work Dept Of Conservation.
Many trails for different abilities and strengths. Its a great place to exercise, re charge or unwind. Bring a water bottle, open eyes and a picnic.
Beautiful place, can get pretty busy on weekends. Lovely picnic spot complete with BBQ. Eels to spot and an 800 year old Rimu to visit.
Nice botanical gardens + choice of walking tracks for all types. Can hear and see lots of Kaka, Parakeet, Tui, Kareru, Fan tail and birds. Purple loop amd red trail is great hiking trail in the bush. Viewing deck is great for calm bird sounds listening experience. 20 min to 4 hour options.
A lovely track and forest in the middle of city. Went here with some friends and the kids and they love it. It has choices in terms of the pathway, from the circular walk, which is easy for family, to more rigorous and longer ones. There are some entrances with a car park which are very handy. We can also do the BBQ here, pit is available. There is a clearing which is a lovely picnic area. I haven't tried it but one of the tracks will take you to the 800-hundred year old Rimu tree. It is also a lovely spot for bird watching. Happy to go back here again soon
The only NZ 'natural' botanical garden. Great for picnic or bush walks. Walks are different length and difficulty. One walk takes you up to a 800 year old rimu tree. Wear grippy shoes
Excellently maintained walking tracks. The main river trail is suitable for all and fully accessible. The red loop needs some fitness as does the full blue trail. The wild eel were a nice surprise.
An absolutely beautiful park...I found a spot to meditate, in the evening sun... the gentle breeze, the whisper of the swaying trees, the tui's singing their songs... a lot to enjoy... Bliss
Great place for a walk to enjoy the greenery within Wellington’s city limits. Informative signs, well maintained and interesting botanic gardens, walks amongst ferns and native vegetation and an impressive 800 yr old Rimu tree provide something for everyone. Well worth a visit and even sitting on a bench overseeing the remnant native vegetation is relaxing. If you’re a birder, look out for the NZ Falcon!
