Making music is not only fun but is very good for you ( Google benefits of singing if you don't believe me!). I offer public workshops or can come to your preschool, playcentre, playgroup, primary school, high school, community groups, church groups...
I was born and grew up on the exotic Island of Madagascar. One of my earliest memories is of singing in Sunday school. And as far as I can remember, singing has always been a part of my life. I am very passionate about sharing and making music with adults and children.
"Ooh Lala Music" is about making music accessible to all.
Music making workshops: for preschools, playcentres, playgroups, schools, community groups, churches.... I come to you and bring all the required materials for the workshops. These workshops could be a one off, a few times a term or regularly. They involve lots of singing, some movements and/or dancing, games, chants, body percussion, percussion instruments... and are delivered in a playful and relaxed manner to invite creativity.
Dances from Madagascar workshop: Move and shake to the funky rhythms of music from Madagascar. This workshop is aimed at primary and high schools and Community groups.
African Inspired dance workshops with live drumming (Wellington only) : for primary schools and high schools. A great way to exercise, learn about other culture and have fun!
I also run workshops or act as guest director to various choirs on songs from Madagascar (traditional and original ones) and every so often appear as a guest speaker introducing my beautiful country at various group gatherings and schools in New Zealand. A percentage of what I get paid in these workshops go to a fund that helps communities but primarily children in Madagascar.
Looking forward to making music with you all!!!
"Lala is an extremely talented musician and music teacher. She is an enthusiastic, creative and imaginative person who inspires everyone she meets. We love her positive, honest and open manner. She brings the best out of all the students she has worked with. Under Lala’s guidance, even those who think that they have very little musical talent find that that have!"

"Lala is an engaging tutor, full of energy and enthusiasm. She has been involved with International Dance Day as a tutor and performer since 2013, teaching both adults and kids workshops. It is alway a pleasure to have her involved in the event, she not only communicates, but embodies, the joy of dance!"
