Toilets close. Walks to both lake and sea close by.nNice views of mountain.nChildren's super slide. Nice safe blue tube slidennWater close and shops and meals just up road.nOnly space for 5 vans.Book a Bach close as is pub food clothes shop and Farmlands shop. Art Gallery plus juice bar.nCamp ground shop also close. Beach 200 meters down road.nPublic picnic tables by beach.nSheltered spot on flat ground.
Nice freedom camping space that was very quiet as it’s away from a main road but there is a little park there so kids may come to play in the morning. Space for 6 but we found 8 in total by the time we woke up and no problems. Toilet was clean but no light and no handwash.
You can see Mount Taranaki from there. Beach Close by, playground and lake next to it. Toilet is clean. Good freedom camp !
Nice little freedom camping spot - it has a flush toilet, a playground, a bunch of walking tracks and is close to town for takeaways/supplies.nMore all weather parking options would make it even more awesome as at this time of year the grass is pretty much a mud pie. Really awesome to see a town that seems so supportive of freedom campers, we appreciate it
A fair alternative to overpriced Opunake Beach Holiday Park.nThis site was all over the map with a mix of pros and cons.nPros- There was a fantastic slide and friendly bunch of ducks. The view of the lake is stunning and it was quiet.nCons- The toilet was basic, it didn't have light, so bring a torch for the early morning twinkle.nThe wildest part of this site was the toilet seat disappeared overnight and was floating in the lake in the morning.
