This place was creepy as. The hallway felt like it was straight out of The Shining, very eerie. Didn't see a single staff member during the whole visit, and more things didn't work than those that did sinks, light switches etc.. Wouldn't even pay half the price to stay again.Rooms: 2/5
We stayed here during Mardi Gras and it was a great time. We had a lovely host, very kind and helpful. Thankfully she was able to help us organise a ride to the event and back to Waiouru from Ohakune 20km The rooms are inline with the low price, nothing special but the experience was great : Thank you Jess and Jazz
The only reason it was “ok” is because the lady was nice enough to let us have a real late check in due to major traffic delays. But unfortunately that’s all I have that is good to say about the place.. We ended up checking out the very next day and forfeiting a whole night for x2 rooms, it’s SO dusty sometimes it made it hard to breath, wasn’t very clean, needs a major revamp, no towels, had NO hot water which should be a bear minimum when staying somewhere or I wish I was informed before going there, so I could book other accommodation as we had my partners nana with us and that’s not suitable. It’s more of a hostel vibe, there is “rubbish” EVERYWHERE it’s quite wild. The place felt a little spooky, hall way was long & FREEZING. The heaters in the room did work fine which kept us warm, thankfully as there was only a thin blanket on the beds and we are SO close to mountain full of snow, the snow on the mountain was beautiful tho. There was no pillow cases in one of the rooms and the pillow was stained, there was no bins in the room so there was tissues stuff down the side of the bed from previous guest. I have never in my life left a motel that I have already paid for, yes it’s cheap, but not cheap enough In my opinion… I’m so sadden to leave a review like this, but I would avoid this place at all cost, until some serious renovation are done.
The management is very welcoming .. a great little place to stop in and rest.. easy access and very lovely people.. thanks for having us.. Walkability: Right in the heart of the main road..
Yuk yuk and yuk! Place is very old and run down,it is very dark and cold inside..kind of spooky. Curtain one onlyin the room could not be opened and after managing somewhat to half open it,saw that the garden was overgrown with weeds. TV wasn't working, and after asking about it was told "sorry no rooms have working tv".Got offered a bottlevof wine to make up for it??.Was there with my husband, who was working on site. Upon returning from work he wanted to take a shower but there was no hot water..Asked about that and were told "no rooms have hot water"...Why were we not told about this ahead? Had to ask for cups as there was only 1 small one in the room and couldn't make coffee for both of us. Bed had only 1 thin blanket, base was disgusting and dirty...In the end we asked for a refund and left..not worth the $81..Horrible
The location was nice, friendly service. But apon arrival the curtain was hanging, there were no towels and no bin. Also when we popped out we came to our room, an the key from room 10 was in our key hole and unlocked our door. We found this strange as we locked room 12 when we left. We probably wont stay again. But im not a karen either. And hate to leave reviews like this. Just a heads up to the owners. To avoid further disappointment with future guests.
We had a wonderful one night stay at the Oasis Motel - very clean, everything seemed to be new. The host, had been a wonderful host, very polite, knowledgeable and pleasant to talk to. Heated blankets for colder nights come as a bonus! Has kitchen utensils and an electric stove which is portable to us. Definitely recommend the place.
was offered room for $80 instead of $95. OMG wasnt even worth $50. disgusting. very dusty, smelled like dust, started sneezing itchy skin, toilet didnt flush, had to hold the ball thing up for cistern to fill, was offered a bucket. Manger was most unfriendly person ever. no heater had to ask for one. would have left however weather was really bad, and night driving not my thing. Everything about this motel is YUK. stayed here 35 years and it has not moved with the time. YUK YUK YUK
We 3 girls were very disappointed. We had no other option but to stay, however took the opportunity to leave the motel a day early. The price is not worth the stay- it is awfully dirty, stinky and simply unpleasant to stay in. Once asked, the motel owner kindly cleaned the bathroom himself which was filthy, as there was hair everywhere, not to mention the dirt. We were also given an extra room for no cost, to create a better value for the money we paid. One of the beds in the other room had no linen. The hot water was inconsistent, not to say the condition of the taps and baths shown in the photos. Once we turned on the iron to prepare our dresses and a hair drier, our room's electricity went off and we were consequently left with no electricity for the rest of our stay- likely this was on our last day! Overall, we believe the name of the motel should be changed from "Oasis" as the motel is far from the connotations of oasis.
