One of our favourite places in the SI. We catch penguins free of charge any night we stay here. The playground is just a minute of walk from the campground.
Amazing stay ! We paid 49$nz for non powered site for 2 people . Kitchen and bathroom are super clean and tidy, location is perfect, between city and the Penguin on the bay , Penguin even come in the camping after 21pm ! And really nice staff : would definitely go again if I come near by !

One of the nice places to stop and visit when in South Island, old but has been preserved for people to see especially the Victorian buildings.
Nice amenities, helpful staff, nicely maintained grounds. There was a caretaker there 4.30-5.30pm and then 7.30-8.30am and a groundskeeper for a few hours in the afternoon. Penguins come through the campsite of an evening so please be careful when moving about at night.
