We did the beginners bike ride around the lake took about 3 hours and it was so much fun, a real highlight of our trip! Shay and Ksena were great guides and the ride took us through so many different terrains and sights around Queenstown. There were some tricky areas and really steep hills so I would say this was challenging but doable. Such a great value, highly recommend!!!
We completed the Ride to the Sky E-Bike Tour and can recommend the bike tour as exceptional. The ride is one that you need to push yourself and work hard, but the reward of the spectacular view and sense of achievement is something that I will always hang onto as a memorable New Zealand experience. Shay is a high calibre, experienced guide. He was able to read his group and understand, motivate, and technically guide us. It was a very positive experience and Shay is affable. He is really nice guy who is enthusiastic and professional that made it his focus to provide us with a great experience. The bikes were new and high quality. Much attention was given to suit the rider to their E-bike and technique and direction was given throughout the tour. On one climb that I found particularly tough, Shay’s guidance made all of the difference for me to conquer that section. The complimentary photos and video provided cap off a great experience.
Thanks for looking after us Shay. We had a great time with your positive attitude and encouragement. The ride to the lake is highly recommended especially for winter as ride to the sky could be icy. When we kept spinning our legs, the electric motor did almost all of the work. Be prepared to ride for about 2 and a half hours. If you don't ride regularly, your legs can get a workout. A bit of mud got onto our clothes but it dries off and can be wiped off quite easily.
I did the Ride to the Lake E-bike tour option and had a blast. Shay was an excellent instructor and guide for me intermediate rider and one other beginner rider. The trail was great for our skill levels and though the weather wasn't perfect, we still had some amazing views of the lake, rivers, and surrounding mountains. I reckon it's one of the best options available if you're trying to explore the Queenstown area and learn a bit about the local history. Highly recommend to anyone, no matter your experience level. Thanks Shay and Ksena!
My friend and I took the "Ride to the Lake" lake view tour, a 30km route that showcased some absolutely spectacular scenery and showed off Queenstown and its surrounds in their full glory. Ksena was a great guide and her experience, friendly nature and good advice were absolutely worth the price of the ticket. She also knew how to make it fun and made some good tea! I would 100% recommend this ride to anyone who wants to get out of the tourist traps in Queenstown and see the real landscape.
Ksena was an incredible guide! My family and I had a blast and can’t wait to come back for more. Our kids range from 17, 15, and 4 years old and they were very accommodating to every skill level. In my opinion, the best way to experience nature in Queenstown!
My partner and I went on Shay's Ride to the Sky e-bike tour and I have to say it was an incredible experience! Shay was an excellent tour guide and his passion for biking and the outdoors was contagious. He was extremely knowledgeable about the area and made the tour both informative and fun. The e-bikes themselves were fantastic - they were easy to use and allowed us to effortlessly tackle the hills and scenic routes. The ride itself was breathtaking, with stunning views of the mountains and valleys. Shay took us on a route that was both challenging and enjoyable, and he made sure to keep us safe at all times. One of the things that impressed me the most about Shay was his attention to detail. He made sure that everyone was comfortable and had everything they needed, from water and snacks to helmets and bike gear. He also provided plenty of interesting facts and stories about the area, which really added to the experience. Overall, I would highly recommend Shay's Ride to the Sky e-bike tour to anyone who loves biking, nature, and adventure. It's a fantastic way to explore the beautiful landscape, get some exercise, and learn about the history and culture of the area. Thanks, Shay, for an unforgettable experience!
Easily the highlight of Queenstown Whatever you get into while you're in QT, make sure you book a trip, there's good reason you don't see anything below 5 Stars here. So long as you're reasonably fit and can confidently ride a bike, this is a real treat. It was a tad on the wet side to ride up Grants Peak, though we had -- perhaps -- an even better time zipping around the lake. Shay and Ksena were a delight and our only regret is not having more time to do another trip -- until next time!! Eric and Jenna
This was hands down one of the best experiences of my life - apart from my wedding day! When we started out we didn’t believe it that we would make it all the way up the mountain but Shay and his team are experts at what they do and so patient! Not only did we make it to the top but we stopped at some other awesome spots along the way. We would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone heading to Queenstown. There is something for everyone and it will be worth every cent!
