Working with Karla was SUCH a pleasure. I found her because I was looking for help with my baby’s sleep but was not interested in any type of sleep training. She is so knowledgeable and has a great way of explaining things. Her approach really is gentle and holistic, but also effective. I felt heard and understood. I also started to understand my baby more. He is low sleep needs and I had no idea, which made for a frustrating first few months. Karla’s guidance and suggestions helped us meet him where he was developmentally and we are much more content for it. We live in NJ in the US and Karla made sure to find a time that worked for us for our zoom calls. She really went above and beyond and we are so grateful for her guidance and knowing we are doing the best for our baby!
Without wanting to sound dramatic, working with Karla has really been life changing for us. After some horrific advice from another ‘gentle’ sleep consultant, we got in touch with Karla to help us with our 5 month old’s sleep, who had only ever slept on our chest since birth. So many sleep consultants pose themselves as holistic but turn out to be wolves in sheep’s clothing - Karla is the real deal. She is responsive, empathetic and flexible in her approach, and understands the science of infant sleep. Karla instantly understood our very sensitive baby’s temperament and gave advice specific to her individual needs, with gentle steps at a pace we were all comfortable with. No crying it out, no reducing or stretching out feeds, no set schedules, or any of the other nonsense that other sleep trainers have you believe is necessary. Our little girl is now 7 months and sleeping in her sidecar cot for some day naps, and partly overnight. Aside from the huge steps forward in getting us all some decent sleep, Karla has instilled confidence in us and given us permission to parent in a responsive way that feels true to ourselves and our baby. We’ve learnt an incredible amount and will be forever grateful - thank you so much! We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Karla or get in touch for any sleep advice we may need in the future.
I met Karla through the baby massage course which was amazing. Even though I had met and trusted Karla, I wasn't sure I could benefit from a sleep consultant. I was feeling like there was nothing I could ever do to improve my babies sleep, and I just needed to accept 45 minute wakes all night to feed, as well as contact napping. I was so exhausted and deep in sleep deprivation that I couldn't imagine anything helping. I purchased Karlas 'Nurtured Touch' package and she immediately set about figuring out where we were at and how she could help. After the first visit I couldn't believe the difference, and not only did we sleep more, I actually understood the reasons why. Karla is so dedicated to helping parents in a respectful, holistic child focused way. I never felt pressure to try anything, and she was always able to back up her suggestions with research and fact. Now when baby is sick we revert back to the old patterns and I am always so thankful to Karla when I remember how hard that was and how she helped us. If you're not sure, I think she offers 15 minute no obligation chats which will help you gauge if she's right for you. I recommend and trust her 100%
Karla was our shining light through the fog of sleepless nights, hours of settling and resettling, downloadable PDF sleep programs from Sleep Consultants that didn't work. After endless hours of googling everything I could think of to do with baby's sleep and what I "should" be doing and nothing working, I was exhausted. I never wanted to sleep train, but I was shattered and feeling like a shell of myself - I thought sleep training was the only option left. I decided to seek help from a professional. I contacted a couple of sleep consultants recommended by friends and discussed their process. I came off the calls feeling deflated with their approach. Even their "gentle" approach to sleep training didn't sound gentle. That's when my Plunket nurse, as well as my lactation consultant, recommended Karla. From my first call with Karla, I felt instantly relieved. Her approach to baby sleep sounded natural to me, the real "gentle" and no "training" approach. She was warm and understanding. I felt comfortable talking to her, like a friend I'd always known. Karla understood our baby's temperament and knew what would work and what wouldn't work for him. We implemented her suggestions after our first home visit and started seeing instant results with night sleep and naps. Karla also helped us navigate sleep through our baby's developmental periods. She helped me understand my baby's sensory and sleep needs and gave me the confidence to listen to my instincts again which had been hard to hear after months of reading Sleep Consultants' advice on social media and listening to family and friends' sleep suggestions. I started feeling myself again. I take comfort in knowing my responsive approach now is setting my boy's emotional pillars up for the rest of his life. Thanks Karla! Karla's communication is next to no other professional I've ever worked with. Her responses to my questions were quick and detailed. Karla was only a text away if I was in a sleep conundrum and didn't know what to do. I highly recommend Karla to any parent looking for a natural, gentle and responsive approach to baby's sleep. I don't know where we'd be without her.
Karla is next level amazing. She is actually focused on development of babies, teaching and supporting families ways to help support babies natural development of sleep. She is not a quick fix that works for only a week. I struggled so much getting my little boy to sleep in larger chunks. I was up nearly every 1-2 hrs with him this was still happening at 1 year old. I had seeked help from a lot of other places including other sleep consultants that said they are gentle. Everyone else uses a planned PDF and tells you to follow a script - I'm sorry but this does not work for babies - or if it does it works for only a few weeks. Karla actually listens, and gives so much support and advice. I wish I knew her from when my baby was a new born ! I can not recommended Karla enough ! You and your babies will be looked after with her. She has an approach I've never seen before - even though others say they are gentle they are not - Karlas approach is !
My partner and I called Karla when we were in a deep pit of sleep deprivation, getting no more than half hour chunks of sleep with our 6 month old baby. After our initial free call, we were so relieved to find a sleep expert that aligned with our parenting style. Karla held not only held our hands but also our hearts while she listened, observed and guided us through our sleep troubles with Fergus. She educated us about Fergus' sleep needs and how these can be so different between different babies. With this knowledge and Karla's 100% support, we were able to make educated choices that aligned with our sleep expectations and we finally all began to get some well deserved sleep, with no tears! We would recommend Karla to any family that is finding sleep with their little one a challenging task - we are beyond thankful for her time with our family.
We would absolutely reccomend Karla to other families struggling with their LO's sleep. She really took the time to get to know our little boy & us before helping us come up with a tailored plan that we were comfortable with. Karla was only a message away and very encouraging. I was especially impressed with her holistic & gentle approach very hard to find when navigating the world of sleep consultants which even included tips on how I could get a better sleep. After 4 weeks we had reached our goals & a couple of weeks since we've finished with Karla our little one has started sleeping longer than ever before!
Karla is a such a gem, I originally met her at a baby massage course which was amazing, not only was the massage a great bonding experience for me and my baby but as a first time mum the discussion and support was awesome. I have since worked with Karla several times on my babies sleep and every time she has taken a genuine interest in us and the big picture of what is going on. She does not assume anything and is curious to understand what is going to work for you as a family, she is able to pull from the many areas of expertise she has and all of her information and suggestions you can trust to be up to date and with you and your babies overall well being at the centre.
