Sisters making dope stuff for good causes !
This social enterprise aims to make fashion for a cause, creating embroidered Tees with a strong, youthful, creative message.
The simple Tee logos are worn and shared around the world and each tee sold sparks conversations while they enable a donation to partner charities doing valuable work which the sisters have a personal connection to.
First design in October 2016 (Breast Cancer Awareness Week) was the MastectoTee outwardly showing breast cancer scars (inspired by their survivor mum Bette's surgery) to increase awareness and remind women #anychanges #getitchecked.
Profits are passed on to local breast cancer survivor group CanSurvive Dragon Boat Team, who compete nationally and internationally supporting wellness for Wellington breast cancer survivors.
They then designed the NOPE tee, highlighting sexual consent and empowering wearers to speak out strongly against sexual harassment, assault and violence (alongside the global women's resistance movement #icantkeepquiet ). NOPE means NO - it's black and white ! Proceeds from each tee sold go to Wellington Sexual Abuse HELP Foundation who provide counselling, advocacy and vital support to anyone suffering from sexual abuse.
Tee #3 was designed to respond to the unaffordability of period products causing some students to miss out on education. Everyone should have access to affordable menstrual products - period.! Koha is given to address period poverty by collaborating with local social enterprise Wā Collective. They team up with University Student's Associations to provide subsidised menstrual cups to NZ students. #ampitup to normalise conversations about periods.
NOPEforHOPE tee highlights the hidden issues, stresses or mental illness which can lead to youth suicide saying NOPE, in BlackonBlack or WhiteonWhite stitching, to the high rate of young people who take their own lives in NZ. We hope for more prevention strategies and #zerotargets. Profits are donated to YouthLine Wellington who provide young people with free helplines and support services, run by 120 volunteers.
