About

The Sport That Shaped The Nation

Story

Come for a trip back in time exploring the rich history and folklore of the nation's mighty game with an unmasking of its rugby heroes and legends. Get a feel for the real New Zealand by learning how its rich rugby heritage has shaped and been shaped by our country.

It's not every day you can see the nation's treasures in their reality, from the first 'fern', the oldest All Black jersey and the oldest rugby ball to current All Black star Dan Carter's boots!

And test out your rugby skills - kicking, tackling, leaping, sprinting or pushing - in the 'Have a Go' area. If the kids are with you, they'll love to imitate their heroes!

A pleasantly laid out circular amble through NZ rugby history. Early exhibits reveal the raw toughness of the founding game and the memorabilia is interesting. The displays seem to devolve in quality as the years progress, giving way to gay colours and exposing the softening changes that has seen rugby deteriorate as a male sport. Worth a one off visit.

This is for DIEHARD Rugby fans and tragics. Especially historians of the game like myself. Someone like me would need 2-3 hours to have a great look at everything. I loved my trip here. Just wish there were a few more historic trophies there.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
