New World Wanaka

Store is taking advantage of tourists who don’t understand a one card is needed to receive a lot of the advertised prices. Signage stating the regular price if you don’t have a one card is difficult if not impossible to find. Staff were initially unhelpful to explain the system but after setting up a one card they did refund the extra paid which was 14%. Nice profit for those complicit. Manager Sarah did her best not to refund the extra we paid from our purchase the day before by bringing out the classic “do you have a receipt” and when shown the transaction from a bank account “the person who can deal with that isn’t here today”. A well trained employee. She also implied it was impossible to complain and gave an 0800 number to call. What has happened to NZ?

I love how big it is. Means more options, and are usually better than the smaller ones. Staff are really nice too. Toilet are cleaned good.

We had a big delivery to our holiday house, and the team couldn't have been more helpful. They checked in with us on a couple of substitutions and were even very helpful on when they came within the delivery slot selected. Could not fault the service and would recommend any day. Thanks to Heidi in particular for lugging our groceries up our driveway and being so flexible and friendly.

The supermarket is one stop destination for all you need for grocery and household items. Deli section is good, they also have wine and beer selection.

Not a fan of the tourist price gouging - In order to get the normal prices, you need a New World Club Card. Other New World stores will provide you a tourist club card if you're visiting and you ask, but not this one.

Well stock supermarket with plenty of fresh bakery items and ready meals for holiday makers on the go. The staff at the registers were very friendly and engaging and looked like they enjoy their job and interactions with the customer.

New World Wanaka is the best grocery store in town. They have a huge selection of fruits, vegetables, meats, prepared foods, etc. They also have tons of cleaning supplies, various gear, whatnot. The Four Square on the other side of town is nice, but much smaller and more limited. We enjoyed their roast chicken and a fresh afghan biscuit.

Good produce but the experience was unusually unwelcoming. Avoid if you’re likely upset when rebuked asking for the store club card.

Staff were unfriendly and made people frustrated. The only horrible thing I have got when I travelled to New Zealand. No idea why so mean to people overseas.

Handy location in the centre of the township. Easy parking and the full new world product range.
