Sadly this supermarket has drastically gone downhill over the past couple of years. The produce department is far from fresh, they regularly have rotten fruit and veges on display at rather expensive prices. Sadly the shelves are often empty, as if there hasnt been enough stock ordered, or not enough staff to put the stock out. The amount of times I've popped in to grab a loaf of bread only to find none on the shelf is ridiculous.nIf rumours are to be believed the current owners do nothing to discourage bullying in the workplace. The previous owners were frequently on the shop floor helping out, I've never seen the new owners in all the times I've been into the store since they took over. New world Blenheim is no longer the go to supermarket for fresh produce or great customer service.
Full service supermarket that is a standalone building. Huge with all the stuff one would expect for a grocery store - bakery, butcher, fish, produce, dairy, frozen and a large section of pharmacy/over-the-counter/personal care. After working out how the labels and colors are different between the US and NZ, I was able to find what I needed.nnCheckout was easy and now I have a new bright red reusable shopping bag for my collection.
Prices are reasonable compared to many other New World stores in the south island. Staff and service is excellent.
All the fruits are neatly displayed. Must be spending a lot of effort and time to make them look fantastically nice. New world has the initiative to start the cafe service. A good idea to enjoy a cup of coffee and cabinet foods after the shopping. I love to shop at New World.
Pulled into the carpark at 8:52pm. They closed at 9pm and the older lady with red hair locked the doors on me. I asked if I could come in and grab one thing. She said no very rudely and had terrible terrible customer service. Refused to let me run in and grab 1 item even though they weren't closed yet. So many other cars pulled up and tried to go inside aswell, I had to tell them that the store was closed and the older lady with red hair wouldn't let anyone in. I've never had customer service like this before, she was honestly so rude to me and all I wanted was to run in and grab some Panadol for my stomach pains/cramps.
