I do like shopping at New World, Howick. The people are friendly, the store is always clean. I was a little disappointed today with their lack of stationary though, needed to buy a notebook for work and all they had was a tiny wee section with pens and felt tips. Oh well.

One of the best New Worlds I've been in. Went back to pick up an awesome rump steak special, thick cut new York style.

Always plesent shopping in New World Howick. There is special offer sometime with super good values. The birthday cakes are better than many other shops. There is ATM at the entry. Toilets are available and clean.

Bought Pappadums last week and just realised that it’s already expired because the taste was off. Very disappointed with New World. This already happened twice. Last time it was New World Ormiston selling expired goods. Make sure to check the expiry date when you shop in New World.

This review is based on my experience working there as a shelf stocker.  I would start by saying I would never recommend this job to anyone of any age. Whether you're a teenager looking for a first job, to an elderely person looking for some extra money. Firstly, majority of the management team are horrific people, hypocrites, and very rude. They forget the old-age rule of practice what you preach, and yell & belittle and discipline people for the same things that they do themselves. They do little to no work, and deligate themselves to do the easy tasks & easy isles, whilst everyone else must slave away and do the more dificuilt jobs/isles. You will always absolutely be yelled at for not doing enough, while the managers themselves do nothing of value at all. Don't even get me started on the extra break time they give themselves. You cannot take a minute over your break time without being told to leave, yet they will have an excess 30 minutes of break for themself. They're always on their phones talking to friends, family etc, in the store-room, yet the second you pull out yours, you are in trouble - even if it is literally for a second! Also, some of the managers are/were extremely bias towards their friends people they are friends with outside of work  Also some of the staff including management are a bit creepy towards girls. Wouldn't recommend working if cat-calling makes you upset.  They will pressure you into taking shifts that you cannot take. Declining shifts is rarely an option without them making you feel like you're a terrible person for not taking that shift/cover.  Team cohesiveness or team spirit does not exist. Environment is not friendly. None of the managers really take their time to get to know the members or are bubbly at all with the staff. They look like they hate their job themselves.  Besides the management, the job itself is very demanding. 9 hour shifts, either 2pm-11pm, or 5am-2pm. And you recieve an hour break total. You are constantly on your feet, for almost 9 hours. Job is extremely tedious and hard-work, especially when being told you're not doing a good enough job. Heavy lifting, quite hard labour, doing trolleys in the boiling heat for 30 minutes. My advice to them would be split up the shifts, and run a shift from 5am to 10am, 10am-4pm, and then a 4-pm-11pm. This would probably make staff members more happy and enjoy working there more.  The owner or higher up staff never make appearences. I understand they're busy, but making an effort to be involved is important.  Overall, I never thought I'd find a worser job than my previous one, but New World takes the tea. Don't work here. There's a reason why New World has such a high staff turn-over.

First time shopping with New World Howick last night and I was amazed from start to finish. From the friendly staff at the deli to the checkout staff and security guard wishing us a good night I had a flawless experience and will be shopping here only from now on.  Friendly staff, big clean store and an excellent variety in groceries, 5 stars +

Great supermarket, well organized and generally well stocked although  the last couple of years would have been trying plus the overseas container freight will remain bad and costly for some time. Really nice friendly service and personal. The place is a decent size with plenty of room to maneuver, a very good bakery, sea food area and for me the hot leg of ham fresh daily is my favorite. Plenty of parking with easy access from both Wellington street and Union road. Great supermarket

Love their Bakery section... No other supermarket around as good.

I do like this new world,but some of their prices are more expensive than other supermarkets,there is a fair amount of parking, it does get busy on the main road when you are trying to get out so drive with caution. New world is big,fairly decent wine selection,its in a convenient location so its ideal to stop there on your way home
