Narbey Olive Oil

Story
Narbey Olive Grove is nestled in the hills above Waipu, with a view of Bream Bay and an ever changing vista of the elusive Little Barrier Island in the distance.
The 400 plus olive trees are sheltered by a backdrop of mature indigenous trees and large outcrops of limestone, indicating the close proximity to the well-known Waipu Caves.
Leon Narbey grows four main varieties of olives, the Italian cultivars - Frantoio, Leccino and Pendolino as well as the NZ heritage cultivar J5 (probably brought here by the Missionaries in the 19th century).
The olives are hand picked when they are almost ripe to make sure that the oil has a high level of polyphenols and antioxidants. The oil produced is blended together for a full and intense flavour in the tradition of Italian Single Estates where the combined flavours and aromas produce a full and lasting sensation in the mouth and a peppery finish on the palate.
