We didn’t book our table, because we arrived around 8.40, 20min before closing. Lucky us! Food was incredibly nice, well served and delivered fast. My order was fried crab and marinated tofu, both delicious, accompanied by plum wine. Kids menu is super well served, enough to feed any little hungry soul. Great dining experience, arigato gozaimasu!
We have been frequenting Musashi St Heliers for many years and it is some of the best Japanese in Auckland. Tonight we opted for takeaway sushi and was perfect! Musashi is always super busy for dining in so I highly recommend booking in advance. James Ashwin Kakapo Business Sales
Yummy Japanese food. My sukiyaki took a rather long time to cook everyone nearly finished their meal when I was ready to cook the beef. The wagyu beef was tender but not as flavoursome as it could have been. Happy with the meal overall though.
Wanting to come here for awhile. Had pretty high expectation before coming here. We tried the wagyu hooba and also the salmon hooba set. The sides was quite small, sushi was quite small. Salad was underdressed, the soy braised lotus root was good and earthy. Edamame is average, kinda like the store bought mamasan ones. The main attraction the hooba wagyu and the salmon was very salty and strong flavour and not so big quantity. Pretty shame, as the ambiance was pretty nice but the food here is expensive and below average.
The miso eggplant was too oil! The teriyaki chicken is super super dry! I think is cooked second time so that why ! I order chicken yakitori the flavour is totally same with teriyaki chicken!!!!! And also very dry, like cook many day ago! The food level lower then before!
We booked online for a special Valentines Day dinner. Thank you for being open although the weather was rough outside. We had a set menu that consisted of miso soup, three seasonal appetisers, soft shell crab karate, medium sushi & sashimi plate, shrimp tempura and chose a main from the list with rice. We chose wagyu beef sukiyaki and salmon miso nabe extra charge. The food came out quickly and was so delicious. So satisfied with the meal and service.
Very enjoyable meals. Nice cosy environment. Always seemed to be very busy. It is good to call to book an appointment if you go as a group or family. Otherwise you may need to wait for a while. My family and I came to this restaurant for several years. The price has been steadily increased.
We booked for 2 people outside table. When we arrived staff asked us if we want inside table. The restaurant was very busy but we could feel they do care their customers.Food: 5/5
Amazing quality Japanese food here. One of the best Japanese restaurants in Auckland for sure. Waiting staff were friendly & attentive. Highly recommend the Musashi Zen Set with Miso Chicken Katsu for the main. The Spicy Shrimp Roll was another favourite of ours, love that they torch the sushi at the table. I'll definitely be back to try out more of the menu here.
I have just been to this restaurant today holding elevated expectations with its high rate and good reputation. The reality was a bit disappointing. Frist, customer service. We arrived before 11:45am the opening hour. The Japanese lady told us it was not open yet so we waited at the front door and expected she would seat us when it reached 11:45am. Nothing happened until we saw another few customers walking in and seated. Then we followed in. When I made the booking online it automatically set as two people. I tried to change it to three but it did not seem an easy change then I thought it should not be a problem to fit one more in. The Japanese lady told me she only reserved the small table for us. I told her not mind just adding a chair in. However, when our orders arrived, the table turned out to be too small. I asked one of the two young ladies if we could move to a bigger table. I noticed there were another 2 4-seat tables available at the time. The young lady checked with the manager then quickly helped us move to the bigger table. Why were we not seated at the 4 seated table at first as there were obviously two that had not been booked! Secondly, the food was just average. The lunch menu does not have the same variety as the dinner one. My mum loves tempulo but it is only served at dinner. I understood people tend to have a quick meal at lunch during the week but certainly not at the weekend. There are also a lot of people choosing to eat light at dinner but indulge more at lunch, which has proven to be a healthier arrangement.
