the hostel has a great location, it’s near to the beach&shops. you can hire boards and wetsuits, that’s great too!nfor us, the hostel is a bit too small for the amount of people living there. Just one ,bigger‘ bathroom for all together with two sinks. The kitchen is also really small, so you should better avoid the peak times when the majority wants to cook.nmaybe this thing is just in the 4bed room dorm the case but we had the two upper bunks and the mattresses were so flat that we literally slept on the slatted frame, for 50$ a bit too pricey.
Good service on arrival, easy check in. Facilities were clean and basic. Rooms were small, cramped and so humid! There was no air con… Astrolabe across the road was loud on the weekends and open till late. Not a bad spot on the Mount though and in good location to get everywhere. Price was reasonable.
One of my favourite hostel in NZ! Cosy, good vibes, well located! The only reason I don't put 5 stars is cause of the blonde German girl that is working there at reception was quite annoying. I gave my key put the sheet in the basket before the check out time. I just need to charge my phone and say goodbye to everyone for an hour in the common area and she has been really pushy to get me out. It's the first time that I had any problems to hang around in the commun area after check out time for a bit of times

Hey ! I stayed at the hostel: super nice ! It's a very good hostel ! It's not too big, so it's much easier to meet new people! I was also in the Pacific coast lodge, it's very nice, big and super clean, but I prefer Mount Backpackers because it's more familial! I tried surfing: super super nice ! They have everything for the beginners and the prices are super honest ! Boards are perfect to learn !
