Christchurch’s premier wedding & special occasions venue and restaurant.
This beautiful historic venue reopened in December 2016 after sustaining considerable damage in the February 2011 earthquake and being closed for some years. Christchurch City Council undertook a two-year, $3.2m rebuild and strengthening project so the delightful Mona Vale Homestead could once again welcome the public for events and dining. The gracious Victorian building is once more resplendent in her heritage best, operating again as a wedding, special occasions and meeting venue plus day-time café.
The 5.5 hectares of garden park remain one of Christchurch's best loved wedding locations, while the Mona Vale Iris Lawn is ideal for ceremonies with a marquee set for the reception.
This is one of the most pictuesque gardens for wedding photography. Backdrops of the Avon River, bridges, established trees, rolling lawns and flower beds provide beautiful romantic settings.
Gardens and landscaped lawns gently rolling down to the Avon River feature significant plantings of large exotic or Northern Hemisphere trees, a Rose garden and 100-year-old Fernery as well as herbaceous perennials and beds of annuals.
A marquee on Iris Lawn provides an option for company picnics and christmas functions.
