Mexicali Fresh

This place looks like a surf shack but is a Mexican take-away. Nice view of the water and the atmosphere on the patio is good. The food isn't great through. Nachos were okay. Ordered a margarita as well and it was mediocre. There's much better places for Mexican food and margaritas within walking distance that are for a similar budget.

Average quality Mexican food served by unenthused staff. Meats on the foods were dry and appeared to have been in the cooker for too long. Salsa was passable with the guacamole having an unusual plastic flavour. In this location there are many better choices in close proximity. Not recommended.

Came by for food after going through the Body Works exhibit at the Hilton. We were looking for a cheap place which could fit 5 people and just passed this place so we went in. Managed to get in before the another large group so we were able to just order without too much of a wait time. With the freshly made stuff we took our food after paying, but there were a few items which required cooking so was served to us when it was ready, including the dessert nachos. The dessert nachos were very moreish and the other food were quite nice.

I personally love the food here. Being from Brazil, I often miss my hometown cuisine and Mexican food is some of the closest I can get. I’m a fan of their Taco Salads. This shop got a great space, a privileged location and a great staff.

Had the Mango Chicken Salad. Garlic & lime chargrilled chicken with fruit salsa and cumin lime vinaigrette. Delicious, fresh ingredients. Guacamole was tasty. Surprisingly authentic Cal-Mex food. Not spicy but big on flavor. Another in my party had a burrito which he thought was bland.

Love coming here for lunch during summer! Great spot with nice outdoor seating and fresh food packed full of flavour. Highly recommended!

Pretty much a chipotle clone down by the water. Food was okay, beer was cold and patio was good for people watching and cruise ship

Unfortunately, the quality of the food has got progressively worse over the years. For example, the Paleo Chicken salad which used to be epic is now pretty dry and certainly not fresh. Also, the condiments section has disappeared and food preparation is hidden from view. Good customer service but doesn't make up for the rest. A pity, as this was one of my favorite summer eateries!

Nice food, fast service, and really nice location. Vegan options available.
