Awesome vibes and good range of foods here. Made the trip from manukau, arrived around 8:30am. Already quite a few people here. Took the advice of other reviewers; to get here as early as possible before the traffic starts queing up. Free parking lot parking before the roundabout if heading from south. Awesome spot. Have been to catalina bay and clevedon markets and matakana is probably the best.nLocals here are also very friendly. Would recommend but definitely get here early as possible
This is a small local weekend market in a very quiet village. The overall scale is quite limited, so there isn’t a lot to see or explore. You shouldn’t expect anything big or particularly special here.nThat said, it was still pleasant enough to walk around for a short time. I ended up buying a wooden chopping board for kitchen use, which was practical and reasonably good quality.nIt’s not really a place I would recommend going out of your way to visit, but if you have some spare time nearby, it’s fine for a brief stop. Nothing impressive, but not bad either.
What a beautiful place even when there’s no market! Come and experience the village feeling and see the water feature at the stairs, walk the nice passage to the creek and then see the eels being all noisey and keen for a feed! Pavlov‘s training of it‘s finest, not with dogs but fish. Who said fish are dumb? Well these eels prove they’re not
Such a busy market with not enough parking to cater for all the people. There is a lot of food options, several tasting and fresh products to choose from. We had crepes and bacon butty, both nice but we had better at other markets. Recommended you go early to avoid long slow queues
Such a lovely atmosphere at the Matakana Farmers Market! The live music gives it a really nice, chilled vibe, especially on a sunny Saturday. Lots of fresh, delicious little treats and great food all around. Just a really nice place to be.
