Masterton FoodBank supplies emergency food parcels to needy families in the Masterton district.
We are ALL volunteers and rely totally on donations & grants to enable us to provide the food parcels.

Story

Masterton FoodBank was established in 1989 and is an incorporated society and moved to its present site in 2009.

Masterton FoodBank operates in the rear of the Wong Building, 84 Queen Street beside the Library Square and behind Taste Cafe.

FoodBank is normally open Monday to Friday 11am - 12.30pm

Emergency food parcels can be ordered by phoning (06) 370 8034 and leaving a clear, complete message on the voice message service.

Once ordered parcels can be collected at around noon. Self referrals need to show some ID preferably a recent letter with name & address. Each parcel will contain enough food for at least the next 24 hours.

Foodbank does its best to provide a good variety of nutritious food and other useful items to help individuals, couples & families in the short-term. Self-referrals of up to three parcels per year can be ordered by individuals after that they need to request parcels through an agency.

FoodBank partners with many agencies who assist people in the longer term and will provide unlimited parcels for all agency referrals.

Donations of non-perishable food as well as fresh fruit and vegetables are always welcomed.

FoodBank is generously supported with grants and donations of cash, food, time and other useful items. An annual street-wide collection is held in November each year.

Donations can be credited to our Westpac account 030687-0313360-00. Let us know you details if your require a receipt (for tax refund) or a thank you letter.

Clean margarine containers, plastic bags, egg cartons (1/2 doz size) and banana boxes are all welcomed. WaiWaste shares the premises with most of their collection going directly in the foodbank parcels. Contributions from the Good Baking Bitches are regularly received.

The foodbank is run totally by volunteers including the committee and part-time co-ordinator.
