Probably the best cafe in Wellington! I know it’s a big call. Always had the loveliest upbeat atmosphere. The staff are fantastic, as is the food. Like how everything is a decent portion and there’s a lot of variety to the menu. Would be good if everything in the cabinet was priced though makes it a bit hard to compare options. Overall, 10/10, If you haven’t been to Maranui, you need to go.
A really special and amazing place! We came on an amazing sunny day, it was quiet and we managed to get a window seat. Luckily enough we could see a large pod of dolphins from the cafe! Great view, great food and really awesome vibe to be in!
Amazing little place in Wellington, best of the beachfront cafes. Food is superb with many vegan/vegetarian options, servers were very friendly and atmosphere was exciting yet laid back. However beware it does get quite busy, especially in the peak times mid-late mornings weekends so maybe get there a bit earlier to ensure a table. Also, while the decor is very pleasant and 'quirky' the ceiling includes a feature with numerous holes which may be off putting. We especially recommend the oat turmeric latte and the eggs benedict with salmon. Overall a lovely place if you're looking for a quirky, Kiwiana beachfront cafe in Wellington. Vegetarian options: Plenty of options. Dietary restrictions: Lots of options for vegetarian, vegan, gluten free.
A busy cafe with an amazing view of the seafront. You can choose whether to sit indoors or outdoors on a deck overlooking the beach. The food was amazing! I definitely recommend.
Gorgeous late lunch at Maranui on Monday. Of course the lovely view out across Lyall Bay and decor inside add to the experience, but the food and coffee certainly held their own. I had avocado, basil and grilled tomato on toast with a poached egg as well as a coconut latte, both of which were great. Maranui is a Wellington gem and is certainly worth the visit!
Quite busy when we went there on a busy weekend. Well worth the 10mins wait until we find a table. Food arrived within 15mins - it was super busy at that time so no complains there. Kids loved their food. Generous servings and super delicious. Staff and service is top notch.Food: 5/5
When in Wellington, we always need to give this cafe a visit. Food is always delicious and the view is tops as well. It is very popular so don’t come here if you’re tight for time. Recommended dishes
Timed it perfectly today and got a table straight away. Always busy and the staff don't appear to have any particular roles but they get things done. Can't fault it. Love the beer taps!
Awesome spot, right on the beach with a good view of the ocean at some tables. Quirky & aesthetic decor. Very comfy seats! Very busy though, and was loud and a bit cold indoors. Small queue to get a table that moved quickly took about 10 mins. We were warned up front wait for food once seated was 30 mins but this basically applied to drinks too they came after about 25 mins. Red rocks scrambled eggs with harissa and whipped feta was delicious! Bread was a little cold though. Mushrooms on toast were a good staple but nothing more. Tumeric latte was great, green smoothie too. We asked for two hot waters, which they added a slice of lemon to and then they charged us for it only 0.5c per cup but still seemed cheeky. We also got a ginger kiss and chocolate tangerine cupcake to take away - both were kinda average unfortunately. Ginger kiss was too sweet and not very gingery. Chocolate tangerine cupcake didn’t have much flavour in the cupcake, only in the icing. Service was pretty good overall but kinda robotic. 15% surcharge on a public holiday. Overall a pleasant experience. Worth trying but not sure it’d be a go to spot.
Millionaire view here in the beach front. Seeing the planes land and take off. Listening to the wave. Enjoying the yummy lunch that were value for money.Food: 5/5
