Our Commitment to you


We are an Alcohol and Other Drug counseling service based at the rear of Maraeroa Marae , at 216 Warspite Avenue , Waitangrua , Porirua. We have an accredited Clinician, an experienced Administrator and access to onsite Registered Nurses.

Your confidentiality is a priority for us, and we are in a separate building and have our own administrator. Our team are specialists, and are committed to helping you meet your goals.

We work by an appointment system only. This is to manage your confidentiality to ensure people receive the best service possible. Appointments are timed in such a way that there is no overlap between you and other people visiting our service. To ensure everyone's confidentiality, please contact us for an appointment.

We are all a part of a whanau / family system, so as much as possible, we aim to work with you in the context of your family systems.

When we meet, there will be an opportunity to introduce ourselves to each other and establish a working relationships. Understanding cultural needs is important, and we actively practice indigenous ways of working with you. This may mean that you can teach us some aspects of your culture.

Once we have introduced ourselves (whakatau) we are likely to have a cup of tea/coffee to ensure all cultural needs are met and it is culturally safe to continue (noa).



The next step involves beginning the assessment with the use of screening tools to establish the degree of alcohol or other drug use. This will help guide a discussion about the changes in behavior that you see as a priority or focus area. A screening tool will help us develop a plan that will achieve goals that we have discussed.
