Our Community Pantry and Garden started as a means for Food Bank recipients to 'give back' to their community by growing free or low cost food and assisting others to do so.
The Cannons Creek Community Pantry brings Cannons Creek residents together around free and low cost food. We are working to provide a wide spectrum approach to increasing community food security by supporting reciprocal action and increasing the profile of good food in our community.
Our first step is to grow fruit and vegetables on our site that will be used in our food parcels and will be grown by community members especially those families who access the food bank.
We are lucky to have support from the Tindall Foundation, Mana Community Trust, the Methodist Church of New Zealand, and the Porirua City Council.
