Bit out of the centre of town but Decent sized meals at the restaurant, yummy cocktails at the bar. Very professional team, and thr meals came quickly from the kitchen. Highly recommend the Beef Burger. The lamb shank was cooked to perfection. While the pork belly didn't appear crispy on the outside there was some crunch when eating it. Yummy mash and very tasty Beetroot.
Had work due there. Said there was gluten-free meals was a lie I end up very ill Food & drinks: Gluten-free meals are not Gluten-free. I was every I'll for days
By far the best fish and chips restaurant in the town. Immaculate food, great portions, great staff, comfortable seating with great outdoor playground for kids. I really love the "informal" setting, way more layed back and casual, you don't need to dress up and look posh. We only used the restaurant part and we couldn't hear the racket of the bar so good distance away. We have never tried the accommodation
Never stayed in rooms but atmosphere is great and a lovely place to eat out.Service: 4/5
Paid $6 for a small can of coke cola..prices are high..disappointed..
We had a wonderful meal for 2 at the restaurant. I'm glad we booked in advance as it was full on a Saturday night. Friendly caring staff. Food was delicious crispy pork belly and tender lamb shank. Good portion sizes and timing between our 3 courses was all perfect. The specialty coffee with amaretto was the best I've ever had in NZ with real thick cream not whip. I wish we lived closer so we could come here more often.
Loved the new dining set up. The food was delicious. I had the best butter chicken and my husband had a surf and turf. His steak was tender and cooked perfectly. Very friendly staff. Would recommend you try again if you have been before especially. Loved the whole experience. Thankyou.
Beautifully kept inside with indoor outdoor. A popular place for locals. Add a couple of 15amp EV chargers and would be a great stopover point to the bay :-
My whanau congregated in Dannevirke for an unveiling and afterwards met at the Mangatera Tavern to share Kai. Sam and his staff were welcoming and the food was fantastic and hot. I was told the Pizzas were amazing. Thank you so much.Service: 5/5
Went to the restaurant for a birthday dinner for our son and daughter in law. They both had the lamb shank while my wife had the beer batter fish and chips, and I had the rib eye steak. The meal was brilliant as was the service. But the decor could do with an update. 02-07-2022: Oh dear, oh dear, what a come down. I don't know what's happened but the meals were a big let down this time. For entrée we had garlic bread with balsamic vinegar, sorry but where was the garlic, the bread was just slices of a loaf with butter spread on and warmed to melt the butter, the vinegar was ok. For mains, I had the crispy pork belly, this was overly salted and not crispy, the kumara mash looked like it had been thrown at the plate and way too much, seasonal veges roasted carrot, pumpkin, beet root bits, yeh? Son had lamb shank, this looked good but sitting on a huge pile of mash potato, and the same seasonal vege. The ladies both had chicken and bacon pasta, of which there was plenty of pasta, but the sauce looked to much like chicken tonight. The service was good and friendly, but waitresses could use note pads for taking orders. The overall cost was acceptable including drinks. More then likely we will return.
