This page connects and shares the work of Manurewa Pasifika artists and the pilot programme MANA MOANA - 4 wks of art labs with 3 mentors and an exhibition
Mana Moana held in Manurewa in 2016 was a pilot programme of a five week creative lab for Pacific visual artists, and a week-long showcase with an official opening and off site pop-up event.
Within the 6-week project local artists who exhibited their work - led by art mentors Raymond Sagapolutele, Emily Mafile'o and Elisabeth Alani have formed an arts collective called ManaRewa.
Mana Moana offers the opportunity to connect, learn, create and develop new visual art works. Participants will have three dynamic Pasifika art mentors, and access to rooms at Nathan Homestead to collaborate with other local Pacific artists to make new artwork based on the theme ‘HOME’. For the final two weeks the work created for ‘Mana Moana’ will be showcased at The Nathan Homestead and with a pop-up event in the town centre.
