First of all, a shoutout to the lady that brought us to our table. Her service was impeccable, even during the dinner rush, she remained professional, friendly and patient. Her positive vibe made us feel at home.nnSecondly, the food was wonderful. We ordered a plate of buffalo wings, cauliflower and a pizza, and none of them was disappointing. We were just looking for a place that serves pizza to have a quick meal, but we ended up getting much more than we asked for.nnWe didn’t book a table and the restaurant was quite full, so unfortunately we had to sit far away from the fire. My partner and I felt cold sitting outside but the food and fantastic service warmed our hearts.
Please thank the chef who went to the trouble to make a gluten free pizza base for me tonight. That was the best! Meant to say thanks on the way out but got chatting. Such a cosy spot beside the fire in winter. We love it. Cheers guys. .
On our way back to Auckland, we decided to stop by Manaia—and what a fantastic choice it turned out to be! We were craving something hearty yet thoughtfully prepared, and Manaia delivered on all fronts.nnWe started with the salt and pepper squid and buffalo wings as our entrées, and both were outstanding. The squid was perfectly cooked and seasoned just right, while the wings were some of the best I’ve ever tasted—crispy, flavorful, and sauced to perfection without being overly wet.nnFor the mains, we opted for the pork belly dish and a pot of mussels. Both were absolutely delicious. The pork belly was incredibly tender with a beautifully crisp rind, complemented by a sweet pumpkin purée and savory jus. The mussels were plentiful and flavorful, served in a delectable sauce. My only critique is that the mussels could have been cleaned a bit more thoroughly, as there was some grit and beards left on them.nnTo finish, we indulged in the chocolate fondant and crème brûlée for dessert. The fondant had a rich, molten center that paired wonderfully with the berry compote and ice cream, while the crème brûlée was perfectly sweet and accompanied by a refreshing mango sorbet.nnOverall, Manaia deserves a full 5-star rating for its exceptional food, warm hospitality the female staff were especially attentive and friendly, and cozy atmosphere. If we find ourselves in Tairua again, we’ll definitely make a point to return for another memorable meal!
This is the best mussels I have ever tried. Not only are they big, delicious and fresh, I highly recommend them!
Without doubt, singularly one of the most delicious venison dishes ever! I hope it’s kept on the menu!!!! Yum yum yummy
