Dined at Madam Woo in January 2023. Reservation was easy through the website. Standout features of this restaurant are it's location, layout, service and food. It has atmosphere - that continuous buzz of chatter and laughter that gives you the privacy for your own conversations - but it is never too loud that you need to raise your voice. The food is excellent with some very interesting options. If anything - portions are a little large but one can always exercise self control. The service is brilliant - a standout - they anticipate your needs - never did we need to attempt the catch the server's eye. They are happy staff and properly trained. Food comes quickly so make sure your hungry!
We dropped in for a late dinner and a couple of drinks. They have great food - South Asian street food inspired menu. The food was all excellent. The tofu and greens was super. The five spices chicken as a starter is excellent. Service was good, and the venue is a fun spot
Had a quick lunch while wandering around the city. Happy, attentive and friendly service. The food was served pretty quickly. Small portions but the food tasted very good. The place looks quite busy …. the seating is quite congested.
Initially excited for Malaysian Chinese but this was a very western take. Ordered a fried chicken appetizer which was basically tenders with spices, a braised tofu and vegetables veggies were charred but almost raw, and oily; tofu was simply tofu with heaps of sauce dumped on it, and a laksa noodle which was disappointing for its lackluster flavor and noodles.
Great dinner at Madam Woo in Queenstown. Our favourite dish was the Malaysian slaw with duck followed by the wok fried Asian greens. The Portuguese custard tarts are also delicious.
This was an unpleasant dinner experience for us. The honey and soy squid is way too sweet that the sweetness refuses to leave ur mouth after it. Char Kway Teow has no wok hey smell / taste. It’s neither penang style nor singapore style, not here or there. Roast duck and hoisin sauce is simply instant prata and the hoisin sauce is also too sweet as well. The pork belly in the stir fry veg is so tough and the veg is half cooked in asian standard. The rice for the nasi lemak has no coconut flavor and only pandan flavor. We definitely will not recommend visiting.
We stopped for an early dinner and sat on the patio - service was quick! We were served a bottle of sparkling water and tried a ginger mocktail which was refreshing and light. The duck hoisin appetizer was really delicious - perfect size to split. The roti was crispy and melt in your mouth. I ordered the Malaysian salad with roast duck - it was good but I wish there was more meat and a little less salad. My husband tried the chicken curry with coconut rice which he loved. Would recommend - the inside of the restaurant is also very cute and art geco.
Madam woo is great for some people who miss asian food while in New Zealand. The indoor quite great, food itself is decent for me. I ordered Nasi Lemak 8/10 : The rice was great, however there's no chicken for this menu Kwetiau 7/10 : for me it quite tasteless pork belly 8/10: this is so tasty and the texture was great Spicy fried chicken 7.6/10 : Great texture but no spicy at all for me
We walked in and dined in. Amazing atmosphere and asian-style deco with bamboo wall. The highlight was the hawker rolls which made to perfection and it is definitely worth a try. We ordered the rolls with roast duck. However other dishes, beef randang, wok fired froed roce were average, nothing fancy. Unfortunately the worst dish was Laksa. We couldn't finish it and expect much more from the price we paid.
We've had the joy of dining here during our stay in Queenstown. Food and drinks was excellent as usual. I have to commend the staff and team for the evening. Times are tough for businesses especially in the hospitality industry and you can see how every staff in the restaurant was working hard to deliver their best customer service for the flood of people that kept coming in. Despite the odds, the staff did put their best smile and foot forward to keep going for the evening. I hope one of them will get to read this and thank you for all that you do to make our evening a memorable one.
