Story

After winning the Attitude Award at the 2010, then going on to win Supreme Store of the Year at the 2012 Buildlink awards, owners Simon and Fiona Cavanagh are very pleased with how their company has grown. Lumberland started out as a way for Simon to expand his fencing business, but has become one of the fastest growing timber and timber product suppliers in the region.
Simon attributes the growth of the business to several things including his buying network and a group of suppliers who offer great quality products at a fair price, which he is able to pass on to his customers.
Not just content to be a supplier of timber and building products, Simon has turned his knowledge of the fencing industry into creating a product unique to Lumberland.
He developed a through post and rail system that is now gracing lifestyle blocks, subdivisions, parks and farms all around the country.
No other timber merchant in the country is doing this type of post and rail fencing. It has proven very popular.
Showcasing it at Mystery Creek Field Days in Hamilton and then again at Central districts Field Days in Palmerston North has greatly assisted in the growth of Lumberland over the past few years.

Lumberland's success is not just restricted to it's wide range of timber products. They have also branched out to become a supplier of leading plastering products to tradesmen, as well as individual home owners, with cladding systems for interior and exterior plastering work.
While building his own home, Simon did a lot of research into the best products for an exterior plaster finish.
Lumberland now stocks 'Specialized' plastering products. Simon believes this is the best system on the market, being the most weather tight and giving a fantastic finish. The added bonus being it is also the best value.

Lumberland remains 100 percent independently owned but has the advantage of the buying power that comes with being part of a group. “The biggest turn-around in the business was joining the Build Link Group.
