Lucky 8

I had never been to Lucky 8 before. I heard many of their drinks and dishes are quite affordable lots of items are $8.88, if not fairly close to that. We ordered drinks and food, and were shocked when some dishes arrived within two minutes. I’m not sure if this is the norm, but I was very impressed. The rest of the food and drinks followed shortly after. Everything was indeed around $8.88, and tasted delicious. Their drinks aren’t fancy but are very tasty. The food almost stole the show for me, especially the chilli chicken and lamb. The edamame and fried squid were also solid choices. Well-seasoned and fresh. I’m tempted to come back to see what my next visit will be like, and I hope they keep it up. The venue is nicely lit and very photogenic, in case you feel the need to update the gram. My only note is that it can get quite loud in the venue, nothing too crazy.

Tables for 6, stools round the bar and some smaller tables by the window.nnWould probably make a really good date place.nnWe loved Aunty Hao’s Glass Noodles which were actually flat thick noodles and the beef salad. The prawn and pork shumai was pretty good, the chilli chicken lacked flavour. Being deep fried the chicken would have been kinda tasteless if not for the chilli peaces. Mum reckoned they were a bit salty. As an 89 year old Singaporean woman, she’s a pretty good judge of Asian inspired food.nnNice place to come, service was helpful and friendly, cheap beer is always a winner. We loved our first two dishes, thought the second two were ok but wouldn’t rush back to order them.nnAgain - probably a nice place to come with friends or for a date night

Great vibrant place. We had a party of 7. Right in the heart of Ponsonby. Close to k road and queen street. Decent parking, but off street is better. Food was amazing. They come in small portions but order as much as you want to share for a decent price. They have a dj and wait staff are always about helping out. Set on a second story building next Zambezi. Mövenpick is down 50 meters down and close to parks and Grey Lynn. The heritage housing around is gorgeous and its still buzzing like when I was there at thr age of 7. Regarded as an area for the rich but it's a buzz in the area. Different ways to pay is pretty handy.

Came for a bottomless brunch on Saturday, they sat us right at the bar and we were delivered drinks almost non stop for the entire 2 hours. Live dj but wasn’t too loud. Incredible customer service, heaps of food provided & drinks were incredible. Highly recommend and will definitely be back soon

We were served an expired beer. I did not feel good after drinking the beer, I got served a beer in a can which was expired in Feb 2025. When I complained about it, we were just told to call back if something happened to me. I had other drinks at this restaurant and I am not sure if they were expired too. Not going back.
