Had an awesome time playing at this badminton center with a group of friends—it was exactly what we were looking for!nnWe booked a session around 5:30pm and were pleasantly surprised to find the place almost completely empty. It felt like we had the whole space to ourselves, which made the experience even better. No waiting around, no crowds—just pure game time.nnThere were plenty of courts available, and they were all really well-maintained. The floors were clean, the lines were clear, and the lighting was bright without being harsh. You can tell the place is kept in good condition, which makes a big difference when you’re trying to have a solid game. It definitely meets the standard of what you’d want in a proper badminton court—nothing flashy, just reliable, clean, and ready to play.nnThe vibe was chill and low-key, which was perfect for our group. We were able to just focus on playing and enjoying ourselves without distractions. It’s the kind of place you’d want to come back to regularly—whether you’re a casual player or just looking for a fun and easy way to stay active with friends.nnIf you’re after a simple, high-quality, and stress-free place to play badminton, I’d definitely recommend checking this place out. Great value, great condition, and a great time all around. We’re already planning our next session here!
To NZ Badminton Centre Management:nWe just had a terrible experience in your facility. We used to play here often until today! Just because of new rule of not wearing badminton shoes. I would suggest review your cameras to check what I’m saying is true.nnSo we arrived here after office hours with my parents ages are in 70s, my husband and my son. I’m 8 months pregnant - also the reason why I stopped playing for a while and just brought 4 fam members to play while I watch.nnWe did not ask for additional considerations since I’m heavily pregnant and I have two seniors with me. But please be consistent, tell loyal and casual customers you have a new policy and don’t treat them like they are stupid and it’s their fault they don’t know about the badminton shoes! Not everyone is doing online booking. You didn’t even apologise about this new rule! we’ve been coming and playing in NZBC as usual until you cast us out today like we’ve done a criminal offence!nnAs usual, I called the mobile number because we want to pay through the reception and rent some rackets, he said okay he is coming in 20mins. Their entry doors are typically open, we waited inside the court lights for the court we chose are still off until an Indian man he must be receptionist arrived shouting at us to leave, yes everyone playing heard him calling us and told us to leave. He didn’t say who he is, I told him that my husband is already in the reception to pay so what’s the point of asking us to leave. He then finally said we are not wearing badminton shoes! while we are all wearing rubber shoes appropriate for playing sports. And this was the first time we were told about this shoe thing in this facility.nnWhen we went out, he locked the doors for us. We were so shocked asking but he answered us rudely. I didn’t expect he will shut us out waiting in a small area that can be crowded. We were allowed before to sit directly inside while one in our team pays in the reception.nnAnother couple of customers who are wearing the proper sports gear arrived. The guy also didn’t let them in, I guess they’re also not wearing badminton shoes. He paid through the booking in the reception there is a screen where you can book online, was also upset and wanted a refund.nnMy whole family with the couple waited for the receptionist to come out and explain what’s happening. We argued that some players inside are not wearing badminton shoes, some are wearing Nike basketball shoes, my son knows them as they are coaches in his school, the guy in the reception then told my husband “I’m not gonna answer your questions”.nnHe even told my husband to get all the players not wearing badminton shoes and he will fine them $100, who is in the right mind will tell the customer to do that?! Dude, it is your job to get them and fine them the $30 posted in your facility not $100!nnHe also told us he knows what members are wearing I assume the players inside are club members. My husband then answered their policy is saying even members must wear badminton shoes and he should be fair to everyone.nnSome other rude words from the receptionist:n“do you even know what badminton shoes are? do not say anything if you do not know”nnSorry but won’t be coming back here again, better go to Lloyd Elsmore, they allow any rubber shoes and won’t treat you like shit.
Hands down one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at a sports facility. I booked the court, paid in full, and have played here multiple times with the same shoes—never once was it an issue. But suddenly today the staff decided to act strict for no reason and refused to let me and my friend play because our shoes were “not badminton shoes.”nnLet’s be honest: who books again and again and re-reads the entire terms and conditions every single time? If this rule was so serious, it should’ve been clearly stated or enforced consistently from day one—not sprung on us randomly after taking our money.nnBut the worst part? The manager’s attitude was straight-up rude. No respect, no help, no professionalism. Instead of explaining or offering any solution, he behaved like he was doing us a favour by talking to us. Completely unacceptable.nnMy time, money, and effort were all wasted because of poor communication and a manager who clearly doesn’t know how to talk to customers.nWould never recommend this place to anyone!!
Unfortunately no longer can recommend this badminton centre. After 4 years of consistent weekly play the owner has taken some actions that are just unacceptable. He has started handing out fines for anyone that he and his security camera team deem incorrect without even consulting with us in person. This has meant that we could not book courts until we had paid this fine that he had manufactured.nnObviously we did not agree with the way he is doing business because not only did he not even consider waving the fine after we bought shoes from their shop to fix this issue he just forced us to pay the fine or don’t play simple as that. Considering we have spent thousands in bookings over the 4 years but a $60 fine is indestructible just leaves a sour taste.nnSecondly we have tried to get Dev the owner to reconsider the fine and he had given us an ultimatum. Because he actually banned us because we didn’t pay the fine and therefore could no longer book he said we needed to pay the fine and also leave 5 star reviews by all of our players to then be unbanned and able to book courts and play again.nnUnbelievable honestly. All of our players have the correct badminton shoes but because they think they are the wrong shoes we can’t play so we have moved somewhere else. It’s already been a month now since we played so he is already losing money without us being there weekly and from the reviews of others we are not the only group that have had a awful experience with this badminton centre recently. Do not come here just find somewhere else you will regret it one day if you stay. Sometimes we even had 3 groups booked on the same court and had to wait like 30min-1h for another court to be available completely stuffing up our evening. Don’t waste your time with this place
My children started badminton lessons here last year, and although there were a tremendous amount of children in the lesson with only one instructor, they enjoyed the lessons to start with. Sadly the end of last year we were banned as I picked my son's up 10 minutes early, due to their grandfather being in serious condition in hospital and requiring to make it to the hospital on time to speak with the doctors. Despite the coaches being aware of this, they sent an instant dismissal to my children. Note, when I left, there was no coach in sight. Absolutely appauling, complete lack of empathy. We lost the boys grandfather shortly after, wound cut deep for my kids.
