Story

Lake Hawea Physiotherapy, owned and operated by Karen (Kaz) Armstrong is located on the lakefront in the Lake Hawea township, 15 kilometres from Lake Wanaka and has been in operation since June 2010.
Kaz is a highly experienced practitioner with more than 17 years experience in physiotherapy - 10 years based in New York, and the last 5 years in a leading Christchurch physiotherapy clinic.
Having a special interest in soft tissue mobilisation, Kaz has a long standing reputation for helping her patients get active and painfree.

Karen Armstrong B Phty.

Born and bred in Otago, Karen (Kaz) has been practising physiotherapy for the last 16 years. After graduating from the Otago School of Physiotherapy in 1994, Kaz began practise as a physiotherapist at the Princess Margaret Hospital in Christchurch. Kaz then spent 10 years working in a variety of physiotherapy settings in the United States and managed a Physiotherapy practice in Manhattan.

She has a wide range of experience in acute care, subacute rehabilitation, neurological, home health, paediatrics, jaw disorders (TMJ) and both hospital and private musculo-skeletal practice.

Kaz returned to NZ 5 years ago and has been working in a private practice in Christchurch performing physiotherapy treatment to a wide range of injuries and disorders. This also involved working closely with companies and performing worksite assessments, return-to-work programs, and reducing lost time injuries.

Being based in New York for 10 years and the last 5 years in a leading Christchurch physiotherapy clinic, has given Kaz an extensive range of experience and treatment options to achieve the best results for her clients. Having represented New Zealand in white water kayaking, Kaz understands the importance of recovery and getting back into it. She has a well deserved reputation for helping her patients get active and pain-free.

She has recently moved to Lake Hawea and has set up Lake Hawea Physiotherapy to service Hawea, Hawea Flat, Makarora, Albert town and Wanaka.

Physiotherapy Treatment Hours & Fees

Lake Hawea Physiotherapy is an ACC registered health provider. This means you don't need a doctor's referral to claim through ACC and we can provide ACC part-funded treatments.
Clinic Hours

9:00am - 7:00pm, Monday Wednesday and Friday.

Appointments can be scheduled outside of the clinic hours where possible.

If mobility is a problem, home visits can be arranged for an extra $10 in the Hawea area.
