Kia ora all! My name is Mataina Staub and i am a local artist living in the far north, NZ, who creates/experiments/mucks around with junk in half a shed.

"My work revolves around black culture and identity. Inspired by everyday living life, with that I like to keep my personal art for each individual who sees it. To believe that art is to share emotion. The main materials I use for my works are charcoal,paint,pen and pencil. My work is very dark, not in terms of color but ethnically, representing a variety of captured moments highlighted in one piece, and not only focuses one that but also other aspects of life. These are the metaphors that flow from the way I draw or paint them, the emotion, the boldness, the joy and the struggle."
