Outstanding food, the manager was incredibly professional, amazing drinks. Went once and left in awe… changed our vacation plans around to come back to Wanaka and eat there again and it was just as amazing! Superb way to spend our last night in NZ. The miso butter and bread were great but our favorite was the raw salmon app.
Must stop in Wanaka. We came here twice on our trip! The food was so good. I’d recommend making a booking. The first time we came on a Thursday right when they opened at 5:30 and got a table, but by 6pm they were already full. Definitely get the bread - the miso butter was so flavorful and really unique. Favorite dishes were the cured salmon, Viavio Stracchino, and the market fish. The scallop ceviche was also really tasty. I’d skip the fried chicken - it was nothing special compared to the other incredible dishes on the menu. The service here is also great. Everyone was welcoming, attentive, and knowledgeable of the menu. They offer different types of menus. You can order à la carte, a surprise menu where the chef picks for you, or there’s a pre-set menu that highlights seasonal/local food. The chef here knows what they’re doing, so honestly don’t think you can go wrong either way!
It was an insane experience. The best restaurant in NZ. Everything was absolutely perfect, the personnel were amazing, attentive in every detail and so kind and nice, made us have an incredible time. Special thanks to Ian the manager and Lawrence our server which was spectacular!nThe food is insane!! We couldn’t believe the flavors. Well come back for sure every time we visit Wanaka. And also the ambience is perfect!!
Delicious food, beautiful presentation, great flavours and creative fusion of flavourful fresh ingredients. Good selection of wines to accompany your meals. The service was very professional and attentive. The only thing that was lacking was the noise, the restaurant got so loud that we could not hear our waitress and it was not even easy to hear each other at our table which became a bit tiring taking some of our energy and focus away from being able to fully enjoy the beautiful gastronomy experience. Reservations are required which we knew for our dinner and the restaurant was fully booked
Kika in Wanaka presents a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere, marked by its warm, modern interior and the palpable energy of a well-loved local eatery. The staff’s genuine and attentive service immediately sets a positive tone for the dining experience.nnThe menu is a compelling exploration of robust, flavour-forward dishes. The meal commenced with two contrasting starters: fresh, briny oysters that cleansed the palate, and a Beef Tartare that can only be described as a masterclass in balance and texture. The tartare was exceptionally finely chopped and seasoned, with a rich, unctuous quality that was cut through by sharp, acidic notes. It stands out as one of the finest iterations of the dish I've encountered and is an absolute must-order.nnThe main courses continued this high standard. The fried chicken was notably succulent with a shatteringly crisp, well-seasoned crust, while the spinach and ricotta Gnudi offered a study in delicate contrast—the pillowy-soft dumplings melting away against a savoury sauce.nnA well-curated dessert and digestif list provided a strong finish. The limoncello was a bright, zesty palate-cleanser, a fitting end to the rich meal. Kika’s beverage program is another significant strength, boasting an extensive and thoughtfully assembled wine list alongside a notably large and diverse draft beer selection, sure to satisfy any preference.nnVerdict: Kika successfully delivers a complete package of superb food, a dynamic atmosphere, and excellent service. It is a standout destination in Wanaka that confidently earns a strong recommendation.
