Mouth-watering balanced diet at the Big Fig. We ordered medium-sized plates that come with 5 choices 1 meat, 2 wedges/kumara, and 2 salads, a teapot for 2, and a hot chocolate. Enjoyed the outdoor seating on the couch.
Chanced upon this place that was packed during lunch, huge crowds that flowed in and out! Slow food served fast is an accurate representation.nnThe best dishes were the beef cheeks, kumara gratin and broccoli salad.nnLoved it. Should definitely try this if you're in Wanaka!
Ordering is super easy and a person chooses from what they see, not from something just described at the menu. Staff is helpful and explained all the dishes available at that moment to me. The meals are super tasty. I would totally appreciate a restaurant like that at my own town.nThe place is super busy, so it's possible that you will need to wait a bit to get a table. I sat at the table outside where it was a bit noisy from the cars passing by on the road.nTo order you meal, you need to go to the counter. But the order itself is brought to you later by a waitress.
One of the best meals we’ve had down in South Island! Absolutely blown away by their beef cheeks. We also got kumara, rice and rainbow slaw.
Wow! Amazing array of dishes and incredibly vegan friendly as well as vegetarian and meat dishes. Nice kombucha on tap and free sparkling water on tap. Just the thing after an active day out and about.
