Story

Kiaido Ryu Martial Arts focuses on teaching highly effective self defence for all ages and levels of physical ability. We are a Martial Art, not a competitive sport.

Our art is taught in an environment of mutual respect and cooperation that builds confidence and self-esteem. We emphasize a supportive, positive, family atmosphere and combine self defence skills with the internal aspects of the arts to optimize your health and energy

Kiaido Ryu Martial Arts was founded by Grandmaster and 8th Degree Black Belt Lance Strong. Lance has been involved in the martial arts for over 55 years and has been an instructor for over 30 years.

"We lead a safe, friendly and inclusive environment. Torque International School of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Self Defence is an International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation IBJJF certified academy which is led by a Head Professor with the rank of black belt. The Head Professor in New Zealand, Fábio Machado, has over 35 years of martial arts experience. Our training sessions encompass not only BJJ, but also include learning skills in Judo, Luta livre and Wrestling. Our Head Professor has competed at the highest international level but is also a family man who understands what it takes to live a balanced life."
