Simply awesome. Having a beautiful forested mountain in your back garden to walk through is just fantastic. But be warned....it's quite a walk and a lot of steps in place
It's a long walk up to Mount Kaukau Lookout, but totally worth it. The scenery is calming and beautiful and the view from the top...words cannot describe
Beautiful starting point for Kaukau and has decent public toilets, cafe and parking too..
I love soaking up the atmosphere in this piece of nature... After that I'm more creative in my work... Do you have one hour and a half and feel like hiking? That's a good idea!
Walk up through the bush and admire the view over Wellington from Mt Kaukau. Walk across to Clarke Street and enjoy a peaceful stroll through the bush there. Small kids will have fun in the little playground don't forget the swings by the path into the bush! or playing in the stream. There is a nice cafe with outdoor seating, and in summer the very popular, unheated, pool is open. Croquet and lawn bowl clubs also on Woodmancote Road. Quite good on a Sunny day.
How could you not love this place. How about instead of closing it thr council figure ways to get more people using it?
Dogs n togs at the pool was awesome. It looks like a great spot too for summer swimming. Great little complex.
Nice area, ample parking. Pool not ready to open yet, no water in it yet. Great walking tracks. The main middle track has had some maintenance done to it and adds a further 100 odd stairs to the original 500+ stairs. But a great daily walk.
Awesome walking trails and it took about 30 minutes to walk from the carpark to the top of Kaukau
Really nice walks. Looped walks through the reserve. The park is quite small. The big slide was Not suitable for my 2 year old. They have a pool next to it. It's an open pool and not heated water. So if the weather is cold the pool is very cold. The kids pool is 40cm deep. The entry for me in the little kids pool was free. The pool staff was amazing and sweet. The changing rooms are very user friendly. There's an adults pool next to the kids one.
