I saw this appear on Google maps, while reviewing something else, and had to track it down. It's a nice, easy walk around an old Pa site, through an area of what is apparently replanted forest - there are signs indicating new Kauri trees have been planted here, and you can see many young trees along the trail. The view from the top of the Pa is absolutely amazing, and I was there on a clear, sunny, slightly windy day.nBoth ends of the trail are flanked by private driveways and there is a mountain bike trail criss- crossing it at points.
Do not miss this walk but allow about 1.5 hours if you want to walk full circle back along the road into town.nA good gravel pathway with a look ouut at the top.nWe parked at Wharf Road park and entered there.nnCame out at Harbour view road and walked along the road.nAll easy walking and lots to see.
The start of the walk is well signed posted, and you can park just across the street. We walked back along the road to make it a loop. Lovely forest walk, with beautiful views. The short detour to the hill is worth it too!
Very nice little walk bordered with a few kauris, with a nice view up top even if cloudy.nVery well maintained gravel, adapted to kids even, not too steep.nThe whole walk took us 1h/1h15.nIt crosses the path of the motor bike path so in 2 places you have to be careful but it is well signaled.nYou can park your car near the 4square and walk 5min from there.
Amazing spot for sunset! Easy walk from town. It takes about 10-15min to get to the lookout point.
