Teacher profile:
Rafaella Garlick-Grice completed an MMus with first class honours in 2011 under the tutelage of Katherine Austin at the University of Waikato. During her studies she received many awards as a Sir Edmund Hillary Scholar including the Lili Kraus Piano Award and a Wallace Corporation University of Waikato Blues Award. She also won the University Concerto Competition and subsequently toured with Opus Orchestra performing Saint-Saens Piano Concerto No.5. In 2012, Rafaella was a semi-finalist in the NZ National Concerto Competition.
During her undergraduate degree at the NZ School of Music in Wellington, Rafaella undertook three months of international travel performing as a member of 'Duo Giocoso', the winners of the 2008 esteemed Pettman/Royal Overseas League Chamber Music Scholarship. Previously she was a major prize-winner in PACANZ.
Rafaella is currently working as the String and Brass Accompanist and Co-ordinator at the NZ School of Music, Victoria University in Wellington. She continues to perform as a soloist, chamber musician, repetiteur & accompanist throughout NZ. She has recently opened a teaching studio in the Kapiti Coast.
