Awesome if you travel with kids! Large playground and they give you free kids bags color book, pencils, etc. Our kids enjoyed it a lot! Quite a delay with arrival, but it’s all understandable.
Could be world class but NZR have invested very little into this port and terminal infrastructure for 30 to 40 years. Rumour is after many years of study they may relocate this terminal next to the private competitor BlueBridge Ferry services. The coffee shop at the old terminal is good and its staff are very helpful plus friendly.
Everything was great until the moment a cruise staff decided to close the blinds before 9pm!! Would have enjoyed the rest of the trip looking through the windows as we were doing. Most of the people had the same surprised look on their faces "what the heck?!" Leave the blinds open please!!
Brilliant service and an excellent way to enjoy the trip across the straight while taking in some of NZ's best scenery. Booking the plus lounge is worth every dollar.
Fairly big terminal until a mass of people fills it! Definitely a good idea to come a bit earlier to get a place to sit or to get your spot in line to get on the ferry if you are interested in snagging a good seat for the ride if you aren't in a lounge. Lots of food options on board. We did end up in a lounge and they served us breakfast and lunch. The only unfortunate thing was that nothing was labelled and as vegans it was tough for us to figure out what we could eat. Staff were super nice though. Some nice views along the way.
It is pricy but on a good day you get spectacular views on the sands. People and staff was friendly and professional. You wait a little between check-in and being loaded on the ship. Don’t come too early, if you are there by check-in time or a little before it is absolutely fine. Relax and enjoy. I was surprised that prices for e.g. coffee on board were rather reasonable. Ferry was on time and everything went smooth - we can recommend it.
I have had great experiences in this beautiful country. What a horrible way of treating customers. They moved my ferry booking from 8:45 am to 6:15 am and expect people to be checked in before 5:15 am. I have never seen a company take advantage of their customers this way just so that they can keep earning money.
Cancelled sailing due to mechanical issues leaving me stranded in Picton. No assistance offered, earliest spot they could offer was two weeks later. Cost me more than an extra $1000 to get home. Mechanical issues seem to be happening a lot with their vessels leaving more and more people stranded
Our experience at the terminal and the ferry itself was quite pleasant. Fast and efficient service and a large selection of food and driks.
Nice and very helpful and friendly staff. They took us all though we came too later and all gates have been closed already!! Thank you interislander company for this treat, we appriciated it very much! Awesome view especially in the sounds- lots of dolphins around that day. Quietly atmosphere on the boat sitting and food area and super helpful interaction on the boat while our cruise. Warm meals available! Thank you for a awesome nice very warm hearted kiwi experience!
