InterCity Sky City Bus Terminal

Managed to book a bus ride from Auckland Central to Paihia and back. Initially planned to rent a car but concerned for the husband to drive for 3 hours 6 hours return trip and just so grateful to find InterCity at a reasonable price with on-time schedules! Relaxing for all of us and we enjoyed the views. The terminal at Sky City is very convenient and accessible bus stop at Paihia Wharf was also convenient as it’s only few min walking distance to our accommodation. If you want to explore more of Auckland Central, there is also very cheap but secure and smart locker system in Sky City terminal to store your luggages. Overall, happy with the availability of bus ride options and service from InterCity operator.

I used the bus services to go from Auckland to Kerikeri and I have to admit it was pretty funny.nThe driver was entertaining. On top of that, she drove quite smoothly and the timetables were relatively respected give or take 10/15 minutes.nWe stopped for about ten minutes on the way to take a break and have something to eat.nThe temperature was OK, with aircon on but reasonably low.

There is no pick up or drop off allowed in the bus terminal. Recommend for anyone picking up or dropping off to make it quick at the terminal otherwise you'd have to pay for parking at Skycity, or have someone ready for you at the terminal to help if you have a lot of bags.nnI arrived from Wellington 11hrs on the road arriving early in the morning 630am. I had my 3yr old, large suitcase, carseat, pram, carry on suitcase, 2 shopping bags. It was frustrating..nnPeople that arrive to this terminal may not have family or friends to pick them up but an uber or taxi. You've got 2-4 bags/suitcases to carry to find the uber and taxi. That's frustrating.nnI hope in the future this terminal will implement a plan to have an easier pick up drop off

Dark, cold and packed with people unsure about were is? Or unware of what is? We as people need a warm, comfortable place where we can get together as a family or friends with warmth from a City that is Dark, Damp and people should be acknowledged. Because I am a local Maori from the 70s, 80s and I see that there is plenty of room for change in my Auckland City. Although I travel a lot from Auckland to Wellington quite frequently, 3 times a month. And I see no charge in this system outside of Intercity complex. So I call it how I see it??? Acknowledge it Intercity.

I don't know where to leave it, so I write it down here.nI took the Intercity-organized Waitomo cave-Hobbiton tour bus at 7:45 on Friday, December 6, 2024. It was GA7659 from Auckland to Auckland.nI want to compliment David, the driver! He didn't lose his cheerfulness from start to finish, and he explained more than just driving, the various areas in the middle of the route. I even learned some Maori words!nIt was a great experience. David made a great impression on New Zealand to me. Thank you, David!
