A short walk from the carpark to the viewing area. The walkway takes you right above the roaring waters below. Walk a little further and there are a few more spots to watch the power below. Amazing colours. No tickets needed. It's free.
The Huka Falls Track has been a really nice walk. You can start at the Spa Thermal Park - it's ~3km until the Huka Falls and the same distance back. It took us a little over 1,5 hours.nnThere is some shade along the way but I would still try to avoid the noon heat.nnIf it's a sunny day, bring your swimming cloth along.nnIt's also a good distance for a nice morning run.
Drove to Huka Falls Walkway in a clear sky day - great for viewing. This part of the falls is beautiful with ice blue water and the roaring sound of rolling water is amazing. There are at least three viewpoints as you walk along. Love it even though it’s not the kind of falls like in Milford Sound in South Island.
Definitely amazing peaceful walk where you can listen to the nature sounds birds, insects and the river.nThe walk is moderate hard not alot of uphill but it is quite long 3 hours return.nThere are toilets at the beginning and at the end.nIt can be muddy so wear suits shoes.
This place is always busy with tourists on a good weather day, and this was no exemption. Despite the large quantitiy of people, everyone is very polite and give each other turns to take photos. This is a must visit spot fo sure. In summer try to park further away and walk if you can as the carpark gets very busy.
