Went Lux Cinema OMG amazing experience. Such an extravagant way to experience going to see a movie. Saw Avatar 3D. We sat in big lazy boy sitting that vibrated with sound, Adult drinks available. Ordered hot food before the movie that was bought in half way through the movie very yummy. Got a complimentary soft drink and popcorn. What you pay is definitely worth every cent. Won't go back to the cheap seats.
Went to see a new Avatar movie at Te Awa Hoyts Lux Theatre, Hamilton. The movie is over 3 hours long, and special effects are pretty amazing. The story was a bit slow to begin with but does get better. Lux tickets for 2 people cost $76.80 and include a drink and popcorn. Disappointing they wouldn't give us bottled water we asked for, instead only offering tap water in a glass. We ordered a couple of starters and desserts costing $79, so prices for food are quite expensive. Also, the colour of serviettes needs to be changed. In a dark venue, black serviettes are difficult to see and find. The table area between the seats is not large, so staff need to clear away first course plates before trying to place second course plates. The venue needs some refurbishment with some of the seats in the front lounge area, ripped and torn, and self-service machines out front, not working. Plus, seats inside theatre could do with a good clean too, there's all sorts down the sides of them . They are very comfortable and incline for you to kick back with your feet up. It was also quite hot inside the theatre, so I was unsure if the air con was working. Overall, an ok night out but expensive!
It was OK, went to the Hoyts LUX Premium. Food was actually good but unfortunately our first half of the "food" being brought out to us, the portion of chips were warm and almost cold but the spring rolls were piping hot. My seat CC8 had popcorn in it from another previous session. The waiters and other customers walking past often as being more to the exit side was just plain annoying and ruined the experience of being in the premium seats. The Avatar movie was great apart from all that.
Great experience as we watched Avatar 2 in 3D there. We got better deal as we visited there and got family pack of 3 tickets in $48 which was better than online. They should have better deals online which usually is the way. Movie experience was really good with box seats and could feel all vibrations which was awesome. Would love to visit again
We watched Black Adam, buying tickets was easy, good options for snacks and drinks. Theater was clean. Good experience. We watched on the extreme screen. Bit more expensive than the normal theaters but we enjoyed it. Also if your a Hoyts club member you get discounts
Nice and clean.. sound is amazing. We brought Lux tickets..the girl who served us up in lounge when we arrived wasn't very welcoming and did the bare minimum. But we still had a good time.
We went Luxe for avatar way of water. Ticket experience online was messy and ended up getting a code over the phone and paying on arrival to avoid missing out. Good work around but management need to remedy this. Waited ages to be served.... if they had a big menu, people would get to the front of the queue and not then need to pick their food and drinks. Seats and cinema were fab and service of food to our seats was awesome. Food was very average for the price - extra $80 for 3 items and the "thai" salad had no dressing and only maybe 4 or 5 small bits of tofu on it. It was still wet from washing the lettuce so it was like eating mixed salad greens from the bag and no Vietnamese flavour.
We paid 7 tickets for a 3D movie, got there 30 min before the start and we where told that they only had 6 3D glasses, no solution was provided. From that point forward everything was downhill, rubish bins overloaded, old soggy popcorn, no pepsi available. Sound very average and the quality of the image was very bad due to dirty and broken 3D glasses. I don't recomend you to watch movies at this cinema.
The cinema experience is good but there are often no hotdogs and the frozen drink machines are often out of order or empty. I'd prefer they remove them from the menu entirely than "offer" the options but it always be unavailable.
Very unhappy with the 3D glasses I was given considering I had to pay for them. They were dirty and sweat stained and scratched terribly. When asked if there wasn't any better ones I was told this was the only adult pair they had and can only offer me a children's pair as alternative. There was no way the small children's pair would have fit me so had to make due with the dirty scratched pair. Very unhappy with this experience.
