The Hospice Shop in Wairau is a wonderful place to visit—it's so convenient, with a great range of items from clothing to homeware. The staff are always warm, approachable, and eager to help, making every visit a joy. Plus, all proceeds support a great cause.
Bought some paintings from here. It looks awesome. It's really big inside. Heaps of second-hand stuff here. Looks clean and tidy. Customer service was nice. It was very hard to find parking.
I had a very bad experience with staff today. Me and my son who is with spectrum ASD and two friends were visited the store today. My son piked a box of lego and kept another place and moved to get different toys. Then he picked toys and bottle full of buttons. He did not understand he must pay for the toys and he tried to go out the store. I explained him we should pay what we get and then we continued shopping. We never leave the main door but two staff members looked us like thieves and asked about the lego box. I explained her my son kept moving because of his condition and we left the lego box on a chair. My friend was with me and she showed the box where we left. Staff were very rude and kept looking us like thieves. We were very disappointed because we never leave the main door. If we leave without paying they could clearly see the lego box. The box is not a small box to hide inside our clothes or anywhere. When I come to the counter to pay for the stuff my son's got I explained what happened but the staff member said she thought we were going to steal. It was like a joke because we never leave the store. In our 11 years of life in New Zealand, this is the first time we faced this kind of rude manners. I think staff members need to rethink before judge the customers. I have no idea who is stealing second hand quality stuff. Being a charity and well known in New Zealand hospiec Wairau It is a shame to have such kind of behavior on a customer and specially on a small kid. We never want to visit the store again.
Hands down the best hospice shop I've experienced. They're caring and go over and above to help you. Thank you for your kindness. Highly recommend.
I agree with most of the flop reviews here. The staffs are very judgmental, thinking people are going to steal. They probably forgot that it’s an opportunity shop. Second hand. Cheap. DONATED. Also dont put any clothes in the other side of the store then if u guys are going to be judgemental thinking they would steal or mix the fill a bag ones with the non fill a bags clothing. Also what’s up with your furnitures prices? No wonder no one buys them. $50 for a coffee table? Used furnitures btw. USED. DONATED. I understand there’s bills to pay such as powerbills ect. But cmon. U guys are just hoarding at this point. At least make ur books free so CHILDREN can make use of it.
