Building, buying, renovating, redecorating, or just feel your home is in need of something?

The Home Ideas Centre is located on the corner of Hutt Road and the Petone Esplanade and is Wellington's only all-year-round permanent home ideas exhibition where you can look, feel and learn about great home products and services from leading NZ and local based businesses.

You won't find salespeople on site, just over 100 displays and great ideas for bathrooms, kitchens, storage, building, renovating, colour, heating, flooring, landscaping, windows, doors and much, much more.

It's all here in one spot, it's free to the public and trade, has plenty of free parking and is open 7 days for you to view at your leisure.

You will find an abundance of ideas and inspiration for your home and we have all the relevant free information for you to take home.

It's a great concept center and asset for the Wellington region as somewhere to go to see a range of physical products from different suppliers/manufacturers in one place for quality, finish, material, feel, layout, ideas etc. However, in my opinion not well supported by the business community it was set up to support - hence the displays are a bit thread bare and about 1/3 of the centre empty. Staff member present very polite, welcoming and friendly. Car parking very good with easy access. I was looking for specific products for rennovation work so thought a visit to the centre would be useful - took a few brochures away after spending around 15mins looking through all the exhibits. Most large suppliers have their own showrooms for customers where a better range will be for a particular brand etc, and this plus online shopping and visualization tools probably caters formost folks needs - however as stated above the centre is useful but to be a great place ir needs to be full of exhibits and better supported by the regional manufacturers and suppliers.
Plenty of stalls, great place to visit for inspiration.
They did not have what we were looking for but the lady on duty was so very helpful.
Love this place. Full of great ideas. Love that you slowly walk around what seems like a circular tower inside. Plenty of ideas for anyone doing up theor homes, or just needing inspiration. The staff are wonderfully friendly and attend to your needs or leave you to it. Whatever you prefer. Wish I coukd come here more. One of my fave places, but then again I'd be an interior designer if I could. Definitely 5 *****

Really good idea to see lots of products and options for renovations or new buildings, all in one place.
I came yesterday, the lady at the reception forced me to fill my details pretending it is for security reasons in the building and now my phone number is spammed by phone calls for every single company... you should at least have a tick box were people can choose if they want a call back or not... or not force them to fill their phone numbers and email "for security reasons"
It could benefit from more staff involvement but there are quite a few options if you're in the market for home improvement items. Convenient but not that we'll structured. Still, it pays to visit if you're looking for these kind of things.
Absolutely fantastic place. So many stalls and renovation ideas. Also love the fact that once you are signed up you are the first to hear about the DIY seminars.
A really useful group of exhibits. You select what you're interested in and they provide leaflets as you leave. Unfortunately, we didn't get leaflets for some of the products we wanted.
