A wonderful park with a nice lake and lovely woods. It's large, quiet and clean. If you wish to relax it's suitable for sitting, walking and get some fresh air. Highly recommended.
We walked here from Cannon Hill Park see review which took about 15mins. This Park is more of a parkland, there aren't flower beds, manicured areas, any children's playground or boating lake. The park is left to let nature take its course so there are nettles/dandelions/brambles in all areas BUT NOT on the paths. The paths are accessible, wide, tidy, no litter or dog mess, bins and a few benches. All the lawned areas have been left to grow long no mow May? But people were still enjoying a picnic. We really enjoyed this park, a complete contrast to Cannon Hill, much quieter and there is a car park. The birdsong was more prominent here too. More woodland areas. We wandered out to the Station pub in Kings Heath before catching the 35 bus back into the city centre. The 50 bus also departs from here about every 10mins! See pics.
A nice park with an adequate parking space. Not crowded unlike other nearby parks.
Beautiful park with such variety of spaces and places to walk
Probably the best park in south Birmingham. The park is the grounds of a former country house, that was owned by the Chamberlin family, and left to the City of Birmingham. The meandering paths enable you to wander around the park for longer than you might imagine, without having to tread the same bits twice. They lead through various landscaped sections, and it can be nice to imagine how guests of the once wealthy owners might have felt as they were led around the house's parkland. Whilst I wouldn't describe the park as "hilly", there are definite changes in elevation, which can lead to some muddy areas in the winter, though work in recent years has improved the drainage, so the main paths stay mostly clear.
A "must" place to see especially if grew up in Birmingham or young and want to see Victorian home of impressive size and grandeur. Guide will give talk on the history of Victorian Chamberlaine family. Essential to book a free tour of renovated parts of the mansion, tours lasting 1 hr once a month. No lift, be able to climb stairs. Search www for Highbury Hall trust to book. Donations welcome at end of the tour. Picnic area: Access from Yew Tree Lane, free parking, can walk into Highbury Park from gardens here and picnic.
Another nice place to walk around with kids and dog, just right behind Kings Heath and extension of holders lane park.. A pond and a big field good to round around. There's some construction going on just the back of Highbury Hall.
A beautiful place to meander and enjoy the sunshine. Lots of little pathways through a brilliant variety of established trees and plenty of places to stop and picnic.
Lovely, spacious park with lots to see.
A wonderful park with spaces for many different activities. There are large open spaces not too far from the carpark suitable for group activities and games. If a nice walk is what you are after then there are multiple pathways which wind through areas of mature greenery, a small forrest area and an orchard. If you wish to relax in a location relatively shielded from sounds from the rest of the park then there is a semi-walled garden with a grasss area suitable for sitting. For me, the most attractive feature of the park is the stream which develops into a pond, home to wildlife such as ducks and other large birds. There are benches nearby so that you can sit and admire the picturesque scenery. The paths loop around so that you can take a lap and return to your start point without doubling back on yourself no matter which end of the park that you enter and there are plenty of patches of grass to stop for a break, making it an ideal park for a stroll or a picnic. Enjoy!
