New and views from inside Auckland’s most successful real estate agency
There’s never been a more exciting time to be in real estate. Far from the internet being the end of our industry, we have met the challenges of the digital era head on. Buyers and sellers are better informed than ever, and expect a new standard of service from agents. Experience still counts, but effectiveness counts for more. It’s a time when a new breed of agent can make their mark.
Henry started his real estate career in 2009, so has never known real estate in the pre digital age. Like many others in the industry his career background is unusual, with experience in accounting, sales and marketing. But after working for a mix of local and international corporates across different industries he has now found what he thinks is the best job in the world. A career in real estate is both financially and personally rewarding, where you create your own results while working with clients from all walks of life.
Born and bred on the North Shore, Henry established himself as a top performer soon after joining the Glenfield branch. He consistently ranked in the top 10% of Barfoot & Thompson’s 1000+ salespeople, and became known for his innovative marketing and high level of referral business . He was then able to bring his love of marketing into the commercial arena, working in sales and leasing at the North Shore Commercial branch, before moving into management as a full time relief manager across Barfoots’ 67 branches. Henry loves using his knowledge and experience for the benefit of salespeople, helping them to grow and succeed in a competitive environment.
Henry’s grandfather, Val Barfoot, founded Barfoot & Thompson over 90 years ago as a new migrant from England. The company has grown to be the market leader in Auckland, but has never lost sight of key family values like integrity and respect. A focus on performance and service has seen Barfoot & Thompson achieve international recognition as the top real estate agency in Asia Pacific - the first New Zealand agency to do so. However they retain their local focus with strong community involvement at all levels. Key sponsorships including Starship Childrens Hospital, Auckland rugby and netball, and the 2017 World Masters Games in Auckland.
Outside of real estate Henry is a former competitive triathlete who still participates in ocean swimming and off-road running events. He lives with his family in Northcote, where he is busy preparing his next generation for the 2032 Olympics.
