A nice doggy park close to Hawera Soccer field. Double gates installed at main entrance to make arrival /departure easier without dogs surrounding you at arrival. Water fountain and doggy doo bins & bags available and yet some people conveniently choose not to use. Not much shade in summer time - a small wooden bench under a shade cloth. Can do with a few hindrance things for those dogs loving that kind of activity. Ideal for bigger dogs to simply run around and chase a ball. Might be a good idea to ask owners inside if it is safe to enter b4 just barging in.
Very nice outing for the dogs. Only the poop bags are something wrong with. It is unusable because when you try to open them they just fall apart. I tried 2 in case it was just the one that had something wrong with it but it was all that was like that. Don't know if the sun damaged it or the quality. Make sure you have your own poop bags. Fortunately I had it on me. Other than that it was very good and will definitely go again.
For a town to have this great asset for our fur babies to play. I come from a city who's council will not provide a fenced park. Well done, small town.
For a nice change it was great that majority of dogs were small breeds & no one felt threatened by roaming aggressive unregistered unfenced dogs.
Shame cannot have smaller area for small dogs as some of the big dogs are intimidating as is great location.
